Funny how I havent even heard of half of the bands named in this thread......shows just how important women are to rock music.

or it shows how much you pay attention. ;)

i can't say i look for female singers anymore than i do for male. as someone else mentioned, i merely look and listen for great music.

haven't read all the posts so i may be repeating some already mentioned, but off the top of my head:

    janis joplin
    chrissie hynde
    blondie
    natalie merchant
    tori amos
    stevie nicks
    joan osbourne

    and on and on........
neither men nor women are more 'important'...it's all individual

    chrissie hynde

That's the name that was glaringly missing when I was reading the posts.

I like the Concrete Blonde singers voice as well.

no actually. my criteria is that the music is good, not that it is sung by a certain gender.

and lets face it one of the biggest girls in music is liam gallagher, whiny little prat bitch that he is, and he's not even female. :D:p

    hahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahah!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Music is not a competetion.

I totally agree, and i hate to sound bit righteous but i think that female rock singers were lacking in an era where rock is traditionally dominated by men. It doesn't necessarily mean that they suck just because there is less of them.

I don't like female vocalists for the most part. There are only a very few bands that have a female singer that I would consider "good"

  • How come nobody is mentioning My Bloody Valentine???

they're the ultimate best with a chick singer... hands down.

  • I didn't think I liked bands with female singers either until I heard Queen Adreena. They're from London.

  • ouch. I think it shows your lack of exposure far more than that ;)

Just ignore him, why should this surprise you? He's an Oasis fan.
