    I couldn't come up with 10.

Interpol is far and away tops for me.

    The Strokes are good.

I know they are in the pop area now, but I like some of The Fray's stuff.

I would say Muse but they've been around since the 90's, just not popular until this decade.

This decade is so lame I can't even think of any others off the top of my head.
    Kansas City 6/12/03 ** Kissimmee 10/9/04 ** Atlantic City 10/1/05 ** Denver 7/2/06 ** Denver 7/3/06 ** Chicago 8/23/09 ** Chicago 8/24/09 ** Kansas City 5/3/10 ** Dallas 11/15/13 ** Oklahoma City 11/16/13 ** St. Louis 10/3/14 ** Tulsa 10/8/14 ** Chicago - Wrigley Field 8/20/16 ** Chicago - Wrigley Field 8/22/16 ** Oklahoma City 9/20/22 ** Ft. thats tough...not many really good ones

    my morning jacket

my chemical romance (you know it's bad when they make my list)
    interpol
    the killers
eminem (first three albums were solid and i don't listen to rap)
    m. ward

again that was a really tough question, and there are a lot of mediocre bands on that list because it has been a horrible decade for music. my morning jacket stands out as the only great band that i can say has come out in the last decade

Honestly, I think there is some incredibly vital music being made this decade. It is certainly a huge improvement over the shit that was dominating the late 90s. I know some people have a hard time getting into the more mellow and quirky indie scene, but that's where it's at right now. Incredible artists who have made a bulk of their music in this decade:

    Arcade Fire
    The Shins
    Idlewild
    The Mars Volta
    The Decemberists
    Thrice
    Thursday
    Bright Eyes
    Bloc Party
    Dashboard Confessional
    M. Ward
    Wolf Parade
    Grandaddy
    Rise Against
    Flogging Molly
    Cary Brothers
    Death Cab for Cutie
    A Perfect Circle
    Postal Service
    Wilco

Modest Mouse has been around too long to list them just as an artist of this decade, but they have released three spectacular albums this decade.
It makes much more sense to live in the present tense.
  • Not a Dreadful Decade by any means !!!

Notice most bands named are unheard of to soooooooo many people, shows that this decade is crap because it is ruled by shit rap, pop, country, and emo

They are only unheard of by people who aren't paying attention. If you are referring to mainstream music. . .to bands selling millions of albums. . .that isn't going to happen anymore. The entire music industry has changed. The Shins' and Arcade Fire's latest albums both debuted at number 2 on the Billboard chart. Modest Mouse's new album will do the same. But in today's music world, that means selling 100,000 copies. If you really love music, you go searching for the good stuff. Many, many people on this board have participated in that search and have been rewarded. I would suggest you do the same rather than waiting for mass media to feed it to you.

so you are saying because they are unheard of(to you) , they arent good?

    Open up your ears!

just because they arent on mainstream rock and my mom isnt a fan doesnt mean the quality of their musci is terrible.

if you look at all of the lsit from the people who posted in this thread most have the same artists listed. obviously we know which bands are good

That was not the point I was making at all, I am a music fanatic and spend hours looking at new bands. I am just simply saying that so far this decade does not compare to the past for rock music.........that isnt to say that there arent great bands out there, just not as many and few that are up to par with many of those bands of the past.

I agree, except for the Strokes.

Sidenote - QOTSA has been around longer than this decade.
