Wow what a great gig - queued for about 10 minutes, calmly walked in - straight to the 2nd row, had loads of room just off to the side of the real moshing! More Soundgarden material than CC and Audioslave which I loved! highlights for me were Black Hole Sun, Spoonman, Wave Goodbye, Say Hello to Heaven - actually whole show was a highlight! :D

  • The other acoustic song in Birmingham was "Whats so funny about Peace love and understanding"(think thats the title)
Its on the Unplugged in Sweden if any1 has that... (he plays it after Redemption song on that CD)
Got a drumstick at birmingham!! Fluke it landed on me shoulder!lol
Haha no way! Were you on Peter Thorn's side with a, no offence intended, petit girl in the front row? If so then I was standing directly behind you, singing loudly. I found 3 picks on the floor at the end. :D

I saw you when I came in. I was PJ shirt spotting all night. :D

Also saw a guy who I met at a PJ show in Paris last year, and then again in Copenhagen this year. Very strange!

There were loads of pics on the floor, I found one, and my friends all found at least one.

  • nottingham was pretty similar to Birmingham

we got the full preaching to the end of the world, call me a dog and like a stone and billie jean in the acoustic set.

It was a great gig, but i think London got more love, nottingham didnt get ty cobb. He also sounded slightly tired at points, but the band held it up, they were excellent. they looked like they didnt want it to end during the whole lotta love jam.

Hey Clare, excellent review! I totally agree, the show was INCREDIBLE. Say Hello 2 Heaven was perfect, I swear I could hear my heart thumping in my chest when it reached the climax, I've longed to hear that song live for over a decade, so it was a pretty special moment (as cheesy as that might sound). And Wave Goodbye - again amazing, I can't believe the control he has in his voice right now, the part where he goes wailing into the bridge then hits that falsetto.......absolutely spot on. I hope he doesn't leave it too long before he returns.

Seeing as this was the place we organised Sonic Youth, thought people would like to read this (who'd have thought bbc would have something interesting to write about!)

  • God I hope so. London was the best I've seen him sing since I don't know when. And the shirtless leap atop the amp to roar out the end of Whole Lotta Love will stay with me for qite some time, I think.

If anyone hears of a boot before I do, please let me know. I think I'm getting a good one of Birmingham the following night. :)

Collected a lot of pics and fan reviews and so on here on my site...claire, I think I nicked your comment, hope you don't mind!!!!

Thanks for putting the review up Clare. You saw me? Long dark hair (to the waist - or even beyond!)? Aawwww... and you didn't say hi! :(
  • Well I wasn't sure it was you and I didn't want to say "redrocks??" to some random woman and make a twerp of myself!!! In fact I saw two ladies about my age with really long red/brown hair that night....I'm sure one of them must have been you!!! One was waiting outside the venue on the steps before the doors opened and the other was upstairs ....I had a complimentary and that's where they put us! I missed the rail, especially when he lost the shirt, but it was a good view. :)
