I fucking like Rocketman. I heard that today on the radio. Fuckin' awesome song. I don't care if he's gay.

But I doubt the line: "I miss my wife"
They're gonna tell you where to walk
When to smile and just what to say
They say have your own fun...

Need vinyl, doggs.

Yeah he's gay but puts out good tunes..I like Tiny Dancer alot

  • Just wondering what his being gay has to do with whether or not he's an artist worth liking...?

I'll bet you listen to plenty of musicians and watch plenty of actors and athletes that are gay...do you feel the need to defend that too? It's OK man, it doesn't MAKE YOU gay.

  • His first few albums up to "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" are awesome. After that, forget it. I do think that "Sweet Painted Lady" is one of the prettiest songs ever written for a hooker. My dad's favorite song is "Where To Now St. Peter". They actually played the entire "Tumbleweed Connection" album on the radio the other day. I think it was some sort of "Top 100 albums of all time" marathon. It's interesting that "Tubleweed" was one of the chosen, considering that it has no big hits on it! Some of his later songs are good...especially "I'm Still Standing" and "I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues". Love those backing vocals!

  • Some of the stuff he put out in the 70's is absolutely essential classic rock, basically back before he became something of a joke.

This is rather odd. I'm listening to Tiny Dancer, and realizing how much I love it, and thinking of how most people would make fun of me for listening to him. Then I come here, and I see this thread...

Rob Halford of Judas Priest, and Freddie Mercury are also gay. And they're both badass. It's not as much that people make fun of Elton John for being gay, but for the type of music, but that's at least what I make of it. For if you make fun of someone for listening to a homosexual artist, then that's pathetic, considering Judas Priest, Queen, and all country artists like Keith Urban, Rascall Flatts, & Kenny Chesney would be in that category.

the original 'candle in the wind' is one of my all time favotite songs. and it doesn't get much better than rocket man. he's got another one i can't think of the name, but it's amazing. it came out in the early 90's i think. my dad wants it played at his funeral, i believe.

edit: the song i was trying to think of is called 'the one.' it's an excellent song, right up there with his best. : )

True, but so do most rock stars. People get pissed when I say they're gay, but I honestly don't see how someone that metro can have any masculine dignity left in him.

Who cares if they are gay or not? I know I only care if they make good music! Having said that, I really love the old Elton; Tiny Dancer era. Don't care that much for the later stuff-got too disco like for me. :D Still respect him as an artist and a person though. :)

elton john got married once, i think it was here in australia as well....married TO A WOMAN! shock horror, haha!!

but yeah, great song, but the lyrics are telling a story, so its not like HE misses his wife, his character does...wow, i put too much analysis into that tune :)
