Favourite live bands

  • Gov't Mule, featuring the incredible, Warren Haynes, is currently my favourite live band.

    Here's my reasons:
Every show has a unique setlist
All 4 members of the band offer up the goods
They play 2 sets and never play only 2hours
Their songs are well written, great lyrics with lots of room for open interpretation on the road
    Gov't Mule is fan friendly
They do justice to the cover songs they play(indifference/nothingman etc)
Warren Haynes, without a doubt, is one of the most talented musicians on the planet.

    I think I've about covered it :)

    metallica
    acdc
    tori amos
    dave matthews band
    tool
    the living end
    the john butler trio
    the tea party
    mars volta
    ben harper
    midnight oil

thats just to name a couple..
  • a few that come to mind... out of those that i have seen, in no particular order:

    pearl jam (goes without saying)
ben harper (amazing performer and the innocent criminals are outstanding)
sigur ros (quite different from your typical rock show but will blow your mind)
white stripes (jack white is the man)
    radiohead (very impressive)
    NIN (perfection)
    neil young (he's a legend)
pj harvey (this girl can sing... very intense)
monster magnet (just a great rock show)
rage against the machine (the pit was quite scary though)
qotsa (i've seen them loads but they're a bit hit and miss i must say)
beck (is there a style of music he's not capable of?)
    tool (the whole experience)
the stooges with mike watt and j mascis (nothing against iggy but you can't beat watt/mascis)
muse (i like what he does with his guitar while singing)

    a couple of german bands:
rammstein (not a fan of their music but the show is impressive)
    beatsteaks (very energetic show)
die ärzte (hilarious... quite possibly the funniest band on the planet)
    die fantastischen vier (hip-hoppers extraordinaire)

don't know... i've got a headache and probably forgot a lot of great live bands i've seen...

Have you seen him this year. It seemed like his energy was cut in half since 02. Myaybe he shouldn't have followed the black crowes but the level in performance wa ridiculous. The Crowes should have closed.,

foo fighters. love the banter, the high energy throughout the whole show...only downside is they don't change their setlists enough. didn't keep me from seeing them 15 times last year. ;)
metallica. again, great crowd interaction, very good live show.
bright eyes. depends very much on the mood he's in, but if you catch him on a good day, you're in for an amazing show. I first saw them in a super tiny club in munich in 2002, and that is still one of my fav concerts ever.

Absolutely - as soon as I read this thread title, the 1st band to come to mind (besides PJ of course) was Local H. Seen them 3-4 times now - awesome show every time out. I just wish they'd come to the East Coast more. Maybe a summer tour after "Hallelujah! I'm a Bum" is released?

Just saw the Foos for my 4th time last year - they never disappoint. It was my 8 year old son's 1st concert. He loved it...I just cringed a little every time Dave dropped an F bomb. Luckily it was only 30-40 times
