Im cutting a sequence from my and my friends vaccation. I cut something that has a soft, slow & stoned/high kind of feel and need some music. Can't really find something good in my collection. Anyone has any idea of what might fit? Something by Grateful Dead or Zappa maybe? Bob Marley?

^ YESSSS! Kyuss is the creator of stoner rock. The bass and fuzz on their guitars will get you in the greatest groove.
-Breath by Pink Floyd has always been a favorite of mine. Also go for Stevie Ray Vaughn's version of "Little Wing" and "All or None" by this really awesome band called Pearl Jam.

I was wondering how long I had to go before someone mentioned Kyuss. I'd definitely go with that for the "stoner" feel. Queens of the stone age is also good. And while we're talking on drugs music, the Doors are brilliant.

So, Kyuss and The Doors would be my suggestions.

Always. Even if you're "not necessarily stoned but beautiful".

Kyuss is a definite.. my favorite is Blues for the Red Sun (50 million year trip!)

Tweaker - 2am wake up call (Hard to find but WORTH A LISTEN!). this will most likely freak you out. same guy that made the music for the game "Alice" and umm i forget the other extremely popular game. (he was an original from the NIN touring line up)

Mahavishnu Orchestra - basically a group or regular rock instruments that can play some amazing stuff. Pretty sure they only jam with no lyrics. Guitarist is one of the best to live~

Desert Sessions - "SEPHARDS PIE" IF YOU WANT TO LAUGH LIKE A STONED MORON! (go to http://shepherdspie.ytmnd.com/. you will pee yourself)

I realized that nearly any live music DVD is absolutely incredible.

DJ Cam - Mad Blunted Jazz

Aphex Twin - Come to daddy (will freak you out)

NIN - Still.. you will think that trent is singing right next to you.. stay quiet and just listen with the tunes up loud.. cleanest sounding record ever.. next to yield that is~

Radiohead - Amnesiac or Kid A..

Sigur Ros - will put you to sleep but it will be the best sleep ever!

    enjoy!
  • STP - Purple
STP - Tiny Music... Songs From The Vatican Gift Shop

And the first 4 songs off of Pearl Jam's Riot Act.

Soundgarden's Superunknown gives a good effect, also. Even when you're not stoned.

If I think of anymore, I'll be sure to mention it.

I would say String Cheese Incident, especially the songs, Indian Creek, and Sing a New Song. Also, Jimi Hendrix, Zeppelin, or the Doors are good. I also suggest Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Cat Stevens, MMW, Derek Trucks, Dave Fiuczynski and John Medeski's Lunar Crush, or Dave Fiuczynski and Rufus Cappadocia's Kif, The Police, Miles Davis, Rush, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Yes, Traffic. Sorry for not being specific with songs. But I generally find that almost anything by these bands are good.
you couldn't swing if you were hangin' from a palm tree in a hurricane.
  • Neil Young-Music Arcade
    Hayden-Woody
    Bob Marley-Trentchtown Rock
    Ben Harper-Burn One Down
Grateful Dead- He's Gone (Europe 72 live)
    Pearl Jam-All Those Yesterdays
Bob Dylan- I Shall Be Free
    Humble Pie-Take Me Back

Damn bro. How could you! Haha. I like to chill out to I'll Take Care of You. So relaxing, you just space out. And Bubblegum is one of my fav. albums right now, has been for a while. Also very chilled out album, almost creepy in a way. And Desert Sessions 9 & 10, whoah.

I was going to say the same. How about Stone Free and Hear My Train A Comin' from the Fillmore concerts.

I also like Riders on the Storm by The Doors.

Dude...if you want some nice mellow stoner tunes...look no further than The Black Crowes!!! Hell they've got too many great "stoner" songs to mention, but if I had to single out a few tasty nuggets to use along with your video they would be:

    1. Hi-Head Blues - Amorica
    2. Wiser Time - Amorica
    3. Cosmic Friend - Lions (well, the live redetion of this is sounds incredible anyway!)
    4. Let Me Share The Ride - Three Snakes & One Charm
    5. My Morning Song - The Southern Harmony & Musical Companion (such an epic song that slowly builds up!)

I also agree with someone else's mention of Ben Harper's "Burn One Down"...a classic "positive message" stoner song!

    Peace & Be TALL,

    J.
