Are they though? Or is it their record company that's doing this?

    Got animated for Polar Express.
Got a big catalog on Guitar Hero. ……….and got animated for that too. Lol

Definately. Any band who sues people for downloading songs is a douche in my mind. Metallica had more money than god at that time and they are worried about a few downloads that in the long run would have probably made them money.

Neil doesn't use an eloborate stage in his shows.

What would people say if PJ charged $250/ ticket? People were annoyed at the price of the Eddie solo gigs and that was only $80

Sure U2 has a great light show but IMO if you are asking for the BIG dollars because you have a kickass light show then you have lost sight of the main reason why you are in the game. U2 should be in IT to get their music to all people, not just people who are rich...and IF you are paying $200 a ticket, to see anyone, you ARE rich, and can't convince me otherwise ;)

Neil is all about the BIG money.

IF PJ charged $200 I'd be the first(??) to slag on them. I'm not sheep when it comes down to ticket prices....and um $80 to see EV&Liam Finn in a theater is an OK deal to me.

anything over $100 is not justifiable, in any way. Light show or not!

A Neil Young show is worth at least four times as much as an Eddie Vedder show. So, 80 bucks for Eddie is actually not better value for your buck than seeing Neil. I'm sorry, but it's true. Also, I saw the Neil Young show for less than $100, so people need to stop acting like every ticket to see Neil is $250 or more.

Everyone is in it for money to some degree. Neil is coming out with his archives and it seems like there is a new record coming out every week. Regardless, the man is such a legend that I don't even really care. He's made enough stands in the past and when I listen to the man sing, it's pretty easy to see that he sings from the heart, and that's really all I care about.
  • you are a fucking moron for saying Kanye West. he recently stated that no amount of money could effect the way he makes his music and he will do whatever his heart desires...

If pearl jam, oasis, and AC/DC can do a show at MSG for less than $100 a ticket so can every other act.

    The who
    Neil
    U2
    Rolling stones

Id guess they are not doing it ONLY for the money, but the high ticket prices demonstrate nothing but greed or an overpaid entourage

Id just add that u2 and neil are worth paying for, but not $250

hehe, Barbara Streisand played a show in Ireland last year with tickets priced from €200 to €500 ...thought that was mad. It was held in a field in irish countryside in autumn, pissed rain, field flooded. amazing :D (WAS NOT AT IT, but laughed a lot when I heard about it from gutted woman in work)

Anyways, its trashy stuff, but i still though that kind of money for tickets was outrageous for any singer / band.

How do you know that the stuff that finds its way on the website has anything at all to do with the band? I mean i doubt they called the fanclub and presented the idea of a onesie

That's a good point. Sometimes I wonder how much of a role they have in the decisions the fanclub makes, merchandise, etc. Im thinking it's minimal.

Nickelback - they work terribly hard to bear their own shit music...so they must be in it for the money

Chris Cornell - i am afraid so (too many cancelled shows, cheesy images and boring music)

Metallica - I hate them since the napster stuff. Since that I haven't paid any cents for their records (thank God I didn't buy St. Anger and anything since Load)

Red Hot Chili Peppers - they are only shadows of their earlier selfs...and songs like Hey-Ho, albums like By The Way+Stadium Arcadium...SHIT

Rolling Stones - for the last 15-20 years it's all about moneymaking and not about making good music, they don't even try to be creative.

I recently saw AC/DC for my daughter and her significant other's sake and IF I was going by my self there would be no way I would've plunked down $92.50 each. However, after seeing them with her I have to say it was more than worth and I even would like to see them on 12/20/08 in Fort Lauderdale FL.

If Metallica is over $50 I'm out.

  • Uhm anyone that thinks U2 can charge that amount because of a "light show" needs to check out TOOL's light show.

a TOOL ticket cost $60 last tour.

I love U2 but I would agree they have been in it for the money for years........but they are not alone................they are in the fine company of The Stones,Dylan,Neil Young and Fleetwood Mac.

They can't seem to take the dignified road which Floyd or Zeppelin,(albeit not Plant) have travelled.

Good call. Our generation missed out on Pink Floyd, but luckily....we have Tool. Very reasonable prices for the show they put on.

In addition to that, I paid under $60 to see NIN a few weeks ago, and that's probably the best light show I've ever seen.

I agree. The first time I saw floyd my ticket cost about £20.

I saw Tool in 2006 and their tickets were £35,excellent live and a great atmospheric light show.£15 inflation rate isn't bad for gig's 25 years apart.

Well to be fair yes most rappers on the radio today would be correct. However there are plenty hip hop artists that are not just in it for the money.

like the second poster in this thread thought, the first band that came to my mind was U2. they just seem so freaking full of themselves and for some reason every shit sound they make gets people all excited.

as for people saying RHCP... am i out of the loop or is everyone else? cause i am pretty sure that they are kind of split up. http://www.cinemablend.com/music/Red-Hot-Chili-Peppers-Break-Up-For-One-Year-10525.html

as for people saying pearl jam or other bands that are selling merchandise... is anyone thinking about this at all? a lot of people just aren't paying for music anymore. welcome to the world of the internet. so if people are not going to buy music, why not make some stuff that people will buy that is not so easily distributed over the internet. some artists do deserve to be paid for their efforts.

Not liking By The Way and SA doesn't make them only in it for the money - it just means you don't like their new music.....

Having seen Frusciante up close and live I can say that he is one musician still doing it for the love of his music.....

Thats what I think too.... Sure its a load of money to see The Who, IF you want to be close. I saw them and the tix were $50 each. Plus they werent sold out so we moved up even closer. Sure the seats were "bad" but TBH I really don't care where I sit at a concert, Im just happy to see whoever I'm seeing no matter what the seats.
