Bands that come to mind that blow ass in my opinion:

    Creed
    Seven Mary Three

Bands that come to mind that I like:

    Incubus
Stone Temple Pilots (Core definitely had a PJ edge to it)
Govt. Mule (all of these are probably a stretch)

I agree though that for the most part Pearl Jam are original and there are no close comparisons.

  • Silverchair's first two albums Frogstomp and Freak Show rock pretty hard. I want to give good mention to Alter Bridge. Their self produced 2007 album Blackbird is stunning. Mark and Myles have collaborated in harmonious beauty.

Dont understand why people keep naming bands, none of these bands really sound like them. The closest to PJ's older records would probably be STP or Soundgarden but I dont even think those sound much like them. No use in just naming a bunch of random bands.

While that may be a credit to Pearl Jam, it sure is sad for a music fan lol

are PJ/STP/Soundgarden the only 3 bands you've ever listened to? as I mentioned on the first or second page, PJ is very much like Screaming Trees, in every facet. Soundgarden sounds nothing whatsoever like PJ and I've never heard any comparisons other than them being both from Seattle. outside of some of Wieland's vocals on the first STP album, there are no comparisons to STP either. STP's music is nothing close to PJ stylistically.

but don't say "none of these bands sound like them". PJ's first 2 or 3 albums sound EXACTLY like Screaming Trees albums, particularly the album "Sweet Oblivion". if you don't see that comparison, you're a dumbass.

everyone says nirvana and pj are similar but i think it was just because they grew out of the same time... nirvana always sounded more "punk" to me and pj like a straight up rock.... i suppose the most similar i could think of is led zeppelin or maybe even jet but even that is not that similar really.
