Robert Plant solo albums

I've got Raising Sand and Mighty ReArranger, what should I go for next?

ooh! seems like focking everyone I mention him to has met the guy!
well why not?
Back then I was in school and waited tables at Denny's and security at the Hampton Coliseum. In the 80's the Hampton Coliseum was the #1 concert venue on the east coast, everyone played there and I mean EVERYONE! Well over a 100 concerts a year.
I heard from the grapevine he wanted to bowl I mention Circle Lanes where I bowled and it must have gotten back to his people and of course I was there.
That night he put on a great show with not much Led Zep stuff. :(
Peace

Is that the one with Please Read The Letter on it?
Well, I went to the bother of looking it up, and yes it is.
Emmi, Please Read The Letter from Raising Sand is a cover of one of the Page & Plant songs from that album.
ahh yes! I actually knew that.
Its kinda like Zeppelin, but not
((why doesn't this board have a smiley that's less eek-ed than the eek-one while being confused but not as confused as the confused one??))
fair enough.
Hehe... On the other hand, they just might have heard the album.
And yes, I realise that was the joke.
Albini > Page & Plant.
now that you mention it it was kinda 'clean' sounding, but i liked it. It was smooth. I'm more of a production snob now than then though.
damn, i want to hear it again now.
aye. I often find myself frustrated and making the face I'd want on a smiley as I'm typing.
I love it. He records drums better than anyone else in the world. Having not heard Walking into Clarksdale I am not sure if there is much drum work on there.
Upon a Golden Horse has a pretty cool orchestration and a nice (but too short) guitar break on it. Walking Into Clarksdale has a cool riff and some nice solos. Burning Up and Sons of Freedom are good rockers and Burning Up has a good solo.
The drummer on the album is actually pretty great. I believe the drummer and bassist were the rhythm section for Plant's solo band at the time.
As far as Plant solo albums, I second the recommendation for Dreamland. I remember liking Manic Nirvana a lot when it came out, but I haven't listened to it in years and I'm not sure how it holds up.
my favorite is Fate of Nations. check it out

and still jonesing for another show....
"the waiting drove me mad..."
Then of course you're up to speed, Mighty Rearranger and Raising sand.
I am praying he reunites with his great old mates and do a tour and album, I really miss RP & the Strange Sensation, what a fabulous noise they made, current and worthy and progressive...not just a stroll down memory lane;)
I read an interview this week where he said "I don't want to just fanny around warming my hands on my own legend...", gotta love him for wanting to keep creating
This was on Dreamland

thanks.
I'm just checking an online CD store and Dreamland and Fate of Nations seem like good bargains at the mo. might just go for them.
have only listened to Dreamland so far and am loving it!
I'd recommend Fate of Nations. I like all of it but I really get a thrill from "The Memory Song". By the way, the drummer on that song was Michael Lee who drummed on the Unledded and Clarksdale albums. He is amazing.
Highly recommend Now n Zen and Dreamland.
I know nobody likes compilations but I think Sixtysix to Timbuktu is really great. The 1st side is pretty much a greatest hits compilation. It captures really good stuff. Disk 2 is a treasure. Basically a "Lost Dogs" compilation. There is stuff that is pre Zeppelin, and post Zeppelin. There is stuff from movie soundtracks, b-sides, etc. The best song from Clarksdale (Rude World)never made it on the album but is included here. It is amazing. Also, "Life begins again" from the Afro Celt Soundsystem, to me, is astonishing.
I have the French import of Mighty Rearranger with the live disk 2. That disk 2 is incredible!
One final note... The last track on disk 2 of 66 to Timbuktu is a live song. To whoever mixes Pearl Jam's bootlegs, this is what live recordings are supposed to sound like.
I'll be there at the Greek Theatre June 24 to see him and Alison. Been hearing great things!
