it's true, the beatles were not infallible. here are what i consider to be their 10 worst songs. it wasn't easy to do, but a hell of a lot easier than picking the 10 best.

where do i begin?? ok, first off all i kind of wanted to pick at least 1 song that would shock people, stir a little controversy, perhaps. :D other than that, it's the most overrated song they ever did. and it's not even close to pauls' best work. it overshadows songs like 'for no one', 'and i love her', hell, even 'i've just seen a face' is more impressive and enjoyable. don't get me wrong, it's a nice little song, but it's been covered 2,000 more times than it should have been. it's a highlight at pauls' shows, right up there with hey jude and let it be. it's not even close in comparison to those songs. i just never cared for it as much as some people do. : )

I love that song. It's a great song to sing along to. Plus it reminds me of the TV show.

  • I think "Everybody has something to hide except me and my monkey" is terrible. by far John's worst song in my opinion.

as for Paul, I think "Getting Better" from Sgt. Pepper's is pretty lame.

Is it really possible to hate a Beatles song?

I looked thru all my Beatles albums (I have all but a few early ones -
'Red Album' makes up for that) and I couldn't find a single song to hate.

Edit: Ok, the thread title was "worst", which doesn't imply hate... but it turned into a hate fest, so I got confused.

Yeah, I guess I could pick some least favorite songs, but a lot of the ones people have picked so far I would consider to be some of my favorites.

"Chains", "Bad Boy" & "Matchbox" are all covers.

    I'd pick:

    "Maxwell's Silver Hammer"
    "Honey Pie"
    "Only A Northern Song"
    "Blue Jay Way"
    "Run For Your Life"
"I Don't Want To Spoil The Party"
    "Martha My Dear"

    I just thought of one.

    The Long and Winding Road

    Terrible, terrible song.

I'm much more of a fan of Lennon and Harrison than McCartney. In fact, I think McCartney's solo career is mostly garbage. He was great with the Beatles (for the most part) but I imagine it's because he had John to keep him in check.
  • Anything Ringo sang.

Wow Im shocked to hear stuff like "Run For Your Life" mentioned...

alright, anything Ringo sang is a given, but especially "What Goes On." I also dislike the filler shit like "Bungalow Bill", "Honey Pie", "Wild Honey Pie" etc etc.
I've faced it, a life wasted, and I'm never going back again.

    The Long and Winding Road

    Terrible, terrible song.

The version that Glyn Johns produced, for the shelved "Get Back" album, was beautiful, but Phil Spector fucked it up after that, on "Let It Be", with that wall of sound approach. The stripped down version on "Let It Be ... Naked" still lacks the warmth of the original production, which was moving without getting too slushy.

    Amen.........
  • The version that Glyn Johns produced, for the shelved "Get Back" album, was beautiful.

No way. The Glyn Johns LP was a fucking disaster. He didn't even pick good versions of the songs. Phil Spector at least picked good versions. It's too bad that he embellished some of the songs though. The songs he didn't embellish, however, sound great. Let It Be Naked rectifies this somewhat...Glyn Johns style mixes of the versions Spector chose...but it's unfortunate that the air and breath has been sucked out of the sound with heavy noise reduction. If it wasn't so strange sounding, it would be my preferred version of the album.
  • i cant decide on 10 right now, but want ad to add my thoughts
i dont know if there is a "worst song" i can think of, but i dont like

    yellow submarine
    long and winding road
lady madonna (i really hate this song)
  • Well, one song immediately came to mind when I saw this: Act Naturally, a Ringo song, and bloody bad one at that. Although, I feel guilty now, and must affirm that I do love the Beatles, but no, they were definetely not infallible. Although I appreciate their early music for what it is, and where it came from, you won't find me listening to anything they recorded prior to Rubber Soul.
