The band to see in 09' if you haven't already is Mastodon. Their new album "Crack the Skye" is easily the album I'm most eager to get my hands on this year and I'm hoping they'll do a show (or two ;-) in my area cause I'd love to see them again soon. They're great live.
    Love your picture of Brent!
I'm looking forward to the album. You are not in Atlanta by chance are you? They are co headlining a metal festival here on Feb 28th (w/Nerousis) and it's going to be free. I too am looking forward to the new album!

As for the OP question. I have a short list of bands i never miss when they tour other then Pearl Jam:
    Wilco
    My Morning Jacket
    Arcade Fire

These are my fav bands to see live.

Unfortunately I won't be in attendance at the free show on Feb. 28th as I live in Kitchener, ON. If I were you I'd definetly be going, I think on the show's website it says that the show goes from 12pm - 12am? All day 12 hour free concert with Mastodon headlining, how could you pass that up!

However, March 9th can't come soon enough. If you find a code (that hasn't been used up) for the free "Crack the Skye" t-shirt offer currently being promoted over at www.mastodonrocks.com send it my way will ya?

Thanks for the comment on my AV, I've only seen them twice thus far but I was three rows back from Brent each time. It's hard to pick between Brent's guitar playing ability and Brann's drumming as to which is my favourite part of the band. Since Brann autographed my poster after their show at the Koolhaus in Toronto, I'm going with him :D
The last PJ show I went to was the best PJ show ever, that is until they come around again of course

  • Brant Bjork & the Bros are one hell of a psychadelic stoner trip back to the early seventies...
And would go see Mike Patton in any shape and form...
  • AC-motherfuckin'-DC......least I hope they are.....let you know in two weeks
All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow

They say every sin is deadly but I believe they may be wrong...I'm guilty of all seven and I don't feel too bad at all

People should post examples if they can find them .... three you may not think of:

Going next weekend to see DeVotchKa yet again ... absolutely blew me away when they came through SF last April ... have to go see them again. Extremely talented group.

    "The Enemy Guns" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u40v6C2JuEM

The Duke Spirit - Leila Moss will kick your ass ...

    "Lassoo" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GrwtxW1h ... re=related

The last act I knew nothing about that completely melted my face off at first listen live, My Brightest Diamond ... she can belt! I was actually at this show, they opened for the Decemberists ... (did a killer cover of Led Zeppelin's "No Quarter" too!)

"Magic Rabbit" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8iKkN9FrgEA (make sure you wait 'til the 4:40 mark, it gets pretty crazy)
"You're one of the few Red Sox fans I don't mind." - Newch91

"I don't believe in damn curses. Wake up the damn Bambino and have me face him. Maybe I'll drill him in the ass." --- Pedro Martinez
  • Some good ones mentioned already....

EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY is another.....I will never miss an opportunity to see these guys! They are unbelievable!!
