Quick, everybody pre-order the Kanye record. :p
  • how can an artist bet their career on sales? not that i didn't already know this, but its sad to see musicians base their entire career on the commercial aspect of the business. i think we can all appreciate pearl jam's approach and motives for writing music that much more by juxtaposing it with this filth.

  • I think 50 cent should quit after this album regardless of sales. I've heard some of his stuff and I thought it was subpar and I do enjoy some hip hop every now and then. He oversaturated the market with his solo stuff, his g-unit material, and various guest apperences. Does anyone remember him before he hit the big time? Look up his 1999 release How To Rob. Just my take.
"I sang "The Sound of Silence" in high school. It was a duet with this girl I had a crush on. And then she saw me at a party later on and I was really stoned, and she had nothing to do with me after that. Yeah, I guess I've always kind of crooned." - Matt Cameron on being asked about singing.

I just want to point out that 50 Cent is not hip hop.'Gangsta Rap' is a bullshit 'genre' that blew up and overshadowed actual hip hop. If you enjoy listening to the odd hip hop track you should pick up Lupe Fiasco's album Food and Liquer, great example of present day hip hop.

I hate them both. I probably hate West more but I'll buy his record to get 50 Cent to retire. we have to take this one step at a time.

Popular rappers and hip hop artists, producers, etc quit, threaten to quit, or retire and come back all the time. It's all hype. It's publicity. Doesn't mean anything.
Using the word "methinks" in your message board posts doesn't make you look smart.
  • First of all get the fuck outta the thread if you don't like hip hop...

Second of all, Kanye may have a huge ego but he is one of the most talented artists alive and is my second favorite behind Pearl Jam...

Who else on the earth has won Grammy's for hip hop awards yet still manages to open for U2, The Rolling Stones and join The Police onstage?

I for one will definitely be purchasing his album on September 11th and Lupe's shortly after that

  • Kanye West is two times more annoying than 50 Cent ever thought about being. Kanye's music is definitley superior and has a more artistic approach no doubt about it but, he thinks he's gold. He's got the biggest ego I think i've ever witnessed. Any guy that runs on stage and rants about not winning an award, taking up the winners time is distasteful and should be beaten. I hope 50 triples his sales.

    HIP HOP SUCKS

He won't retire - he'll probably get one of his gangsta goons to shoot kanye in the back when he comes out of a club or something.

I hope not. I like Kanye West.

They should both pack it in as far as im concerned, real hip hop artists must be discraced by the way in which imposters such as 50 Cent/D12 have hijacked the genre with their utter nonsense music.

Jurassic 5 - Its not about the bills, that's not keeping it real, a lot of tight rappers out there aint got no deals.

    Love this song! http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=AZmQIGLNxBs
People say im paranoid. Well, they dont say it, but i know that's what they are thinking.

    J5 were a good group.

Cut Chemist being gone = No more J5. Chali 2na is solo now, but he was the best rapper by far in that group anyway. I'm looking forward to his album.

I know they arent going anymore, was just saying.

Some of the new rap that is out just now is a joke. That song that Eminem did with D12, My band, is a discrace and that Bizzare Guy's solo stuff is horrendous. The only stuff i listen to from that genre is De La Soul, Tribe Called Quest, Jurassic 5, Mc Abdominal and most recently Dizzee Rascal. His new song samples an old one but i still love it.

Not surprising coming from the person who said Isaac Brock's and Josh Homme's vocals are generic, yet puts Chester Bennington on a pedestal.

As for Fifty and Kayne, I think both have big-ass egos and are both arrogant pricks. Fifty, for the most part, seems to have cooled down, but he still likes to start random shit now and again. Kayne's fame has just gone to his head way too much. Like somebody else said, who the hell complains about losing an MTV award?! There's so much more talented hip hop artists out there than these two and I don't like wasting time listening to sub par stuff.
I share a cigarette with negativity.
  • Mos Def and Talib Kweli have some pretty good solo stuff, but their group album Black Star is quality stuff.
