Anyone here heard J. Tillman? His album 'Minor Works' is fantastic.
Also, I will second Paul Westerberg. Much prefer his work in the Replacements to his solo career though.
"I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"
Definitely agree with pretty much everyone listed here, especially jeff buckley. Someone needs to mention Josh Ritter, too
"Ah, life is a gate, a way, a path to Paradise anyway, why not live for fun and joy and love or some sort of girl by a fireside, why not go to your desire and LAUGH..."
"First of all, there’s the palpable camaraderie and good feeling you get from the entire band as they smile and nod at each other, and huddle together in various formations throughout the show --- They look like they really like each other. They look stoked!"

where would you rank 'One World'? Heard it's supposed to be one of his best, can't locate any torrents for it so Im just gonna go buy it. Lee 'Scratch' Perry, the legendary reggae producer was involved in some way which makes for an unusual album or I'd think. So far got 'Solid Air', 'London Conversations' & 'The Road to Ruin', pretty impressed by them all.

can't believe no one mentioned a single one of those guys yet.
Been listening to some Levon Helm lately. Jason Molina is good. "Don't Fade on Me" and "MAgnolia" are two of my favorite tracks right now.
I agree with a lot of the other stuff thrown out...
