If ever there was a time when Nickleback was cool, it was when Chad Kroeger played with Pearl Jam's own Matty C on "Hero" from the Spider-Man soundtrack.

No, they still weren't cool. Man I fucking hated that song. Wasn't that dipshit from Saliva in it too? It was like an ensemble of douche turds doing the shittiest song of all time. I don't give a shit if Matt Cameron drummed on it that song was a fucking plague on music.
I saw Nickelback many times at small bars here in Vancouver and that was the couple years leading up to How You Remind Me. I enjoyed those shows immensely! There first two albums, The State and Curb were actually quite good rockers. Then came How you Remind Me and I have hated them ever since.....the same song with different lyrics over and over and over and, you get my point!

That's why I said, "if ever..." As in, if there was ever a moment in time that anyone would consider them cool, it was because one guy in their band played on a song with a guy from Pearl Jam. Not because the song was good. It was kind of a tounge-in-cheek joke.
And yes, that dipshit from Saliva was in it too. And your description, "ensemble of douche turds" is pretty effin funny!
