Euphoria Morning

I pulled out this great, great album today for no reason. Wow I love this album; its been too long. What a great display of vocals and amazing collections of songs. Cornell doesn't want to do the same album twice, and if not then we will always have this one. But if he ever does return to this realm of atmospheric, melloncollie sounding music he will be doing a wonderful thing. The vocals on this are truely incredible, too. I know this one is loved here, so give it up

Preaching the End of the World is one of my favorite songs ever.
Same here. I was in about the same condition (or worse) as CC was when this record dropped. Means as much to me as any record I own. I had to pick up the import version with Sunshower. At least 8 songs on that record are perfect from front to back as far as I'm concerned.

ALL TIME!
Search out his Live in Sweden bootleg. it is exactly that.
it's pretty awesome stuff.
I agree. I just got that vibe that he brought some of the ideas and material from them to his solo project and didn't hit the mark like he desired.
Some die just to live.
Yep, you said it!
Yeah I totally agree, Audioslave was good for what it was, but it wasn't his most creative music, and I really miss the darker stuff he did. Who knows what the new stuff is really going to sound like - the brief clip from the Verizon advert isn't exactly promising, but I'll hold off my judgement til we get the album. I wonder where Chris would be now if Euphoria Morning had sold what it deserved to sell?

Case in point, the Flutter Girl demo.
Euphoria Morning in my opinion is a masterful album. And even though I'm also not totally crazy about Natasha's contributions to the album, I would sure as hell take her contributions over Timbaland's. The very little bit we've heard of the new album thus far sounds AWWWWWWFUL.
Yeah that's a great example. I love Flutter Girll but the demo is even better. I prefer the lo-fi songs/demos he does sometimes, like Seasons and the Flutter Girl demo. I've heard of an album called Poncier that apparently has some stuff like this but I've never heard it.
I'm a big Cornell fan, yet I've never been a big fan of this album and this is one of the reasons why. There are really only 3 tracks or so that do it for me, and come to think of it, they're the more minimal songs.

i just think this album is so fucking brilliant! the music is so psychedelic and atmospheric, the lyrics fantastic, and the vocals out of this world!

Ah yeah, that version is AMAZING!
I'm waiting till I've heard more than eight bars from the lead-off single before I make any judgements on that!!! I'm looking forward to hearing what they've done together - Timbaland's a powerful innovator in his own field and I think both of them probably want to push themselves beyond what they're known for. I really liked the single Timbaland produced for Bjork and I'm intrigued to see where this collaboration with CC might go.
Yep - imo the Flutter Girl demo way surpassed the EM version. But then I thought the same about the solo acoustic "Like Suicide" - never could listen to the SG version any more after I heard that.

 Whilst I love both, I would have to go with the full band version just for that guitar solo! And I think the vocals are a little more dynamic.
And whilst I enjoyed the contributions of Alain and Natasha, they didn't just play the music, they also wrote some of it; something I think is often overlooked. They co-wrote the music for the new version of Flutter Girl, Follow My Way and Mission. They wrote all the music for Disappearing One. Natasha wrote all the music for Pillow Of Your Bones and co-wrote Steel Rain with Chris.
I hardly think you can say that they didn't contribute positively to this album; they wrote a fair amount of it! Hence my comment that Chris works better in a band environment where ideas can be bounced off each other.
I agree, I think he works better when he has a little guidance. Also I think the instrumentation helped to give the album a cohesive identity, something Carry On was sorely lacking. The songs on Euphoria Morning all seem to fit together, despite the varying styles, Carry On just felt like a rushed mish-mash of songs thrown together.
This album just hasn't left my player at home since made this thread. Such a great album, such great vocals. Though, I have to say I really do like the arrangements, the vibe of the whole thing. I do like Sweet Euphoria as a single song, but it really is my least favorite in the alubm and doesn't seem to quite fit in with the rest. Still, I just wouldn't change a single thing about this album. The one Cornell song I think the keyboards did ruin is called... uhh... someone to something... its a unreleased one that is often associated with Heart of honey. Thats the only one where I don't appreciate her contribution.
Someone To Die For?
I'm not a fan of that song either. It sounds like a MIDI file.
Don't it make you smile?
I agree 100%
