I cant believe nobody has even mentioned People Under The Stairs, if your after hip hop that isnt just bitches and hoes (such machismo!) you need to check out their album O.S.T. they have an old skool sound with a modern twist, i even converted a QOTSA fan who wouldnt give any rap a chance until he heard this long player! Also definitely The Roots - Game Theory, hip hop with some actual thought and they play instruments......just too cool for school those fellas. Oh and even though its not recent, ya really cant go wrong with EPMD - Strictly Business (from 1988), if you download this on torrentspy or similar i will be amazed if you didnt email me and thank me for lighting up your life with these choices. Theres just too many quality artists to list, Dangermouse and Jemini - Ghetto Pop Life is an absolute classic and should not be ignored by anyone with the slightest interest in this genre......you'd be a fool to miss it. Last one cos im gettin carried away, Dilated Peoples - Neighborhood Watch. I know you changed your post to individual tracks but these are all worthy of playing right thru.......
I listening to this CD I bought off some guy in the Street in Manhattan. The lyrics aren't amazing but it has some pretty good beats. I am not sure what to make of it, though
Nice to see K-OS mentioned so many times in this thread. The guy is insanely talented!
"I try my best to chug, stomp, weep, whisper, moan, wheeze, scat, blurt, rage, whine, and seduce. With my voice I can sound like a girl, the boogieman, a Theremin, a cherry bomb, a clown, a doctor, a murderer. I can be tribal. Ironic. Or disturbed. My voice is really my instrument."

Basehead was a mellow 90s hiphop act...good stuff
Of course, Public Enemy is great!
3rd Bass was a NY act in the 90s...they had some cool beats.
Why do people need to give their opinion when it wasn't asked of them?
The thread was for suggestions.
