Here's mine, then - so hard to choose just one, especially for The Hip, who is tied with PJ for my all-timefavourite band, AND they've been around since the mid-80s!
Please tell me, which album should I get for starters.
Peace
"Day for Night" is widely considered to be their masterpiece, and "Phantom Power" is probably a close second. If you're new to their music I would also recommend their double-disc greatest hits album "Yer Favourites". It's a pretty good cross-section of their entire career so far and it'll give you a great indication of what they sound like:
"I try my best to chug, stomp, weep, whisper, moan, wheeze, scat, blurt, rage, whine, and seduce. With my voice I can sound like a girl, the boogieman, a Theremin, a cherry bomb, a clown, a doctor, a murderer. I can be tribal. Ironic. Or disturbed. My voice is really my instrument."

King Of Leon

Figures Direwolf would beat me! I would add to that: Their live CD "Live Between US" kicks ass. To me, you can't go wrong with The Hip, though. They get a little "out there" for a rock band sometimes, but it's nothing a OJ fan isn't used to! Give it a shot, listen with an open mind and I would imagine you'll love 'em!

I love Day For Night, although I would def. put "Fully Completely" ahead of Phantom Power....
Live Between US and Yer Favourites are probably good alternatives to Day for Night and Fully Completely for someone wanting to get introduced to the band.....
