Ok, so I'm going to start a new thread about albums that when you heard for the first time, changed your life in some way, shape, or form. These albums don't necessarily have to be your favorite albums or what you think are the best albums, but when you first heard them, it made you realize "holy fuck!" So I'm gonna post mine, and some of you may laugh, but who cares? Music is personal for everyone right? So here goes...

1. Pearl Jam - "Ten"
2. Weird Al Yankovic - "Dare to be Stupid"
3. The Beatles - "1"
4. Smashing Pumpkins - "Siamese Dream"
5. Led Zeppelin - "IV"
6. Alice in Chains - "Dirt"
7. Pink Floyd - "The Wall"
8. Rush - "2112"
9. Nine Inch Nails - "Pretty Hate Machine"
10. Nirvana - "Nevermind"
"Darth Vader would say 'Impressive'."

    Led Zepp I

    Ten
jesus greets me looks just like me ....
  • The Doors - Strange Days
    Pearl Jam - Ten
    The Who - By Numbers
    Led Zeppelin - III
    Alice In Chains - Facelift
Soundgarden - Down on the Upside
    Mad Season - Above
    REM - Up
Neil Young - Rust Never Sleeps
    The Who - Quadrophenia

I had been a soundgarden fan from the beginning - but DotU is lyrically so powerful...and at the time it was released i needed that...most of the more "modern" albums were right time- right album type things. The Doors, the Who, Led Zeppelin, and Neil Young all predate me - so the first time I heard them I was very young, and I recall how powerful By Numbers seemed to me. and The Doors made me aware of the power of lyrics in music.

"Above" never fails to get me to catch my throat a little.

    Thats a lot of change
    That's what I was thinking....

These probably weren't life changing, but definitely left an impression on me at certain times of my life...

    Pearl Jam - Vitalogy
Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds - Live at Luther College
    Dr Dre - The Chronic
    The Who - Who's Next
    Pink Floyd - Division Bell
Johnny Cash - At San Quentin
    Green Day - American Idiot
Bruce Springsteen - Darkness on the Edge of Town

These aren't really even really my favorite albums, just the ones that made their mark at the time.

Beatles-I had all of their albums, so I can't really pick just one.
    Animals-Most of the Animals-1966
    Jefferson Airplane-Surrealistic Pillow-1967
    Jimi Hendrix-Are you experienced-1967
    Doors-The Doors-1967
    Led Zeppelin-1969
    CSNY-Deja Vu-1970
Fleetwood Mac-Rumours-1970 (was lent to me by my hubby)
    AIC-Facelift-1990
    Pearl Jam-Ten-1991
All of them just awakened something in me. I really was stuck in the 60's until the 90's came along, and as I do like some new music quite alot, none of newer stuff really stands out enough to make this list. :)

LOL, good point.. They would be in my next ten. Mike Patton is my all time favorite, but i didn't want to fill my top ten with all his projects so I went with Angel dust for this list.

No album has really changed my character, the only way its ever changed my life was getting me involved in music, learning to play the guitar and just emmersing myself more in music and different styles of music, but anyway those albums would have to be:

Blink 182- Enemma of the State(first cd i bought as a kid, first band i actually followed, made me want to play the bass)
    Nirvana- Nevermind
Pearl Jam- Ten(Made me want to play guitar)
The Beatles-All of their albums(my parents were big fans and would play their records all the time in my house, my first real taste of great music)
    Rage Against the Machine-s/t
Beastie Boys-Ill Communication/Hello Nasty/Sounds of Science (both these and Rage opened me up to different styles of music besides hard and classic rock)
    Soundgarden-Superunknown
Dave Mathews Band- Under the Table and Dreaming/Crash(even though i really dont like them that much now, when these cds came out i remember my brother getting them and they were another group that got me interested in music)
PJ at MSG in 2008! Mission Accomplished

The band all knows. We're too afraid to mention.
Don't want to be part of Frank's luncheon.
