I second this. The Shins have quickly become one of my top 5 favorite bands. Wincing the Night Away leaked a while ago, and it is every bit as impressive as their first two albums. Truly remarkable band.
It makes much more sense to live in the present tense.
  • I think the Decemberists 'Crane Wife' is good.

    Ranconteurs, good mix of songs

Sasha Dobson (Mellow Jazz, if you want to rock this one isn't it but she has a great voice)

If you haven't listened to Wolfmother or to My Morning Jacket they are both good.

    joanna newsom
    isis
    jesu
    arctic monkeys
    amy winehouse

i'd recomment listening to milky eyed meander before listening to joanna newsom's new one as it serves as an easier introduciton i think.

blood mountain by mastodon is superb.

jesu self titled album is both ugly and beautiful. like a metal sigur ros.

arctic monkeys are indeed like energetic monkeys.

amy winehouse has a voice older than her years

Are you too good to tango with the poor poor boys?

What you mean that monotone cross between Robert Plant and the guy from Jet doesn't float your boat? Wolfmother is like a lot of bands these days, after about 2 or 3 songs you can't take it any more, it's like one long song running together with a brief pause between tracks.

No. And to whoever said the hold steady, also no.

Look at the White Stripes (Not Get Behind Me Satan, tis lame.) Also try queens of the Stone Age (Steer clear of Lullabies to Paralyze, the other three albums are great.) Also try Mark Lanegan, especially Bubblegum and Whiskey for the Holy Ghost.

EDIT: If you liked Mark Lanegan, you'll also appreciate Screaming Trees.
