I'm gonna close this thread, so apart from quotes of this post and messages of agreeance, I do not expect to see anything else to top this for beautiful moments in music

Bingo. He nailed it, guys.
Smokey Robinson constantly looks like he's trying to act natural after being accused of farting.
Not THE most beautiful, but that silence in the last line in 'Where Did You Sleep Last Night' off of Nirvana Unplugged. Wow.
Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V
Mozart's Requiem, all of it and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_BqrCRaFb2I in particular
Herbert von Karajan directing the Philharmonic of Berlin remains the most beautiful interpretation in my opinion.
"He who hears music, feels his solitude peopled at once" R. Browning

Especially when you see the video... he's had his eyes closed, and then BOOM, he opens his eyes really quickly and closes them to close the song... someone described it as if his soul leaves his body at that point... haha, it's so creepy!
mick hucknall dying by choking on his own vomit after a Babycham binge... its not happened yet, but when it does it will be the most beautiful thing in music... until then i think it might be the guitar solo of Midlake's - Head Home... (2.49 into this video ... which gives me goose bumps every time... and it makes me do the guitar face.
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.
This song is called "Architecture", by Chequerboard. Its short, and most likely not THE most beaufitul moment....but i heard it once and never forgot it. live versions of it go on and on.
the calming effect that this one minute acoustic arrangement has on me is astounding. others dont seem to get it, but its one of my favourite recorded pieces ive ever heard
some amazing pieces in this thread
Requiem for Dying Mothers is another beautiful Stars of the Lid song.
"I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"
Maybe the part in Van Morrison's "Madame Geoge" where he repeats the line "And the love that loves the love that loves to love" about 15 times. Phenominal

On the Bataclan bootleg, when he gives way to the audience on "Hallelujah." Sounds like a fucking chorus of angels. Unbelievable.
REM's Time After Time/Red Rain/So. Central Rain medley.
And definitely this, a version of which another poster put up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lA-ajvoGx8Y

It's a Mahler song called Ich bin der Welt abhanden gekommen
There are a hundred gorgeous songs around, but I think of this one when I think of that kind of stillness.

Also, The Rain Song by Led Zeppelin. Probably one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard, musically and lyrically.
