It is a great song. I suppose it's just not part of the Pantheon when you think of Pearl Jam. But I kind of like all those gems of the more obscure songs.
    one foot in the door
the other foot in the gutter
    sweet smell that they adore
    I think I'd rather smother

  • have they tried this one AT ALL with matt?? id like to hear his adaptation... so much of that song is about jacks work but i think it could still work great and you know eds dying to bust out his sitar again!....

thanks for posting that... id never see it live before :D

  • Saw this in Charlotte, at age 16 ...

Clearly picture this to the day as one of a VERY few standout memories from early PJ experiences.

I remember a whopping NOTHING from my FIRST show at DAR Hall, except they opened with Release and i got tears in my eyes.

Similarly, Charlotte '96 was like my 2nd show, and i still remember dick about it, setlist wise at least,

save for the fact that they played Who You Are and i got shivers up my spine in a BIG way.

Probably THE song that made me realize, beyond being a stark-raving fan ... that i was indeed hooked for life, and that this was musical nirvana.
stupid lyrics and trampled moss in the aforementioned verse be damned.
    This song transcends that shit.
    :D

    Great clip. thanks for sharing

Awesome song, the no code version is the better in my opinion
  • i agree. they should consider throwing it into the mix more often. but hey they have such a catalogue that it's got to be a challenge every night to come up with a setlist.

  • I think NO Code in general is under appreciated... it's probably the disc that I refexively grab the quickest... although doesn't have all of the easily thought of PJ greats.

That was my first concert ever and first PJ concert as well. It is the first footage of it that i have stumled upon. I'll call it an early bday gift.

I think restlesssoul was referring to Rearviewmirror's version, not Lost Dogs. One verse is changed lyrically a little bit. I like Rearviewmirror's version a little better.

    PLAY IT LIVE PLEASE!

    yeah.
i'm still not sure i like the "avalanche, falling fast" line ...

c'mon eddie ... you wrote the song with "stupid" lyrics in the first place and released it ...

why would you get all embarrassed and change them to something more "substantial" ?

    :D
