Hope you're kidding about Lars...I love Metallica just as much as the next guy, but Lars is seriously not that good, even for the style he plays.

    You want a groove-metal drummer who's 10 times classier???

    Vinnie Fuckin' Paul.
    Pantera.
    Word.

If I had to give a top 5....
Bonham (he never played a bad or un-classy part in any Zeppelin song, ever)
Moon (a little over the top, but he invented power drumming/lead drumming)
Grohl (any doubters after Nirvana were put to sleep when Songs For the Deaf or the Killing Joke albums came out. Just phenomenal.)
Vinnie Paul Abbot (see above - best metal drummer)
Jimmy Chaimberlain (Billy knows what he has)
What I Should Have Said...Was Nothing.

  • This is rock drummers, right? Cause I know a shit load of jazz drummers that could drum circles around all of these guys.

Anyway, of all time. Top 3 Rock drummers have to be:

    - Moon
    - Peart
    - Bonham

Oh and Brann Dailor from Mastadon > Danny Carey. Also, Jon Theodore AND Thomas Pridgen from the Mars Volta are very good.

Brann has spectacular fills but he has never played a beat in his life. Carey is like a fucked metronome. In a good way.

I appreciate the chemistry between Jack and Meg in the White Stripes.

I've been playing drums for a while, so spare the lesson on whose got "chops" and who doesn't.

    1. Matt Cameron...he is a fucking animal when playing live.
    2. John Bonham

I have other drummers I like, but none of them compare to those 2, especially cameron.

Yeah, but the questionw as top drummer, not best chemistry.

And I play drums too, and Meg isn't anywhere near a good drummer.

Best female drummer? Easily Janet Wiess from Sleater-Kinney. Now that girl had chops.

Not to be a dick, but the thread is simply "Your Top 5 Drummers." I take that to mean "who speaks to you musically," nothing more.

Meg's not on my list but I can totally relate to how a good musician might find her vibe and chemistry right up there.

That guy from Mastadon is totally tasteless...all he does is fill and fill and fill...
Has he ever played a beat in his fucking life?

Also, I am no Tool fan whatsoever (pretentious fucks), but I can at least admit that Danny Carey is incredible.

Meg White gets such a bad rep, considering she had never drummed before starting the White Stripes with Jack.

Thomas Pridgeon is a power house.
Lars Ulrich is a fucking power house.
    Jose Pasillas is just awesome.
Neil Peart is just Neil Peart.
Eels' drummer is just so much fun.
If I could, think I would give in.
