They're working with Lanois again? What happened to Rick Rubin??

  • God...can't they just go away?

With all the work Edge did with Music Rising how can someone from New Orleans say that???

Edit: And I don't mean you should like there music, but the go away thing sounds like personal hate like they ran over your puppy.

I'm just really over U2. Their last 2 albums have been sub-par at best. And just cause Edge does work with Music Rising means I have to like them? Fuck that. I have an opinion, and it's that they should hang it up. I like Edge actually, I just find Bono very, very lame.
  • I believe I said in my edit you don't have to like them.

When someone goes away it sounds like they have no redeeming qualities. Like how I feel about Scott Stapp.

Even tho I like Bono I can accept you wanting him to go away because I hear that sentiment alot. I don't understand it but I accept it.

They're musicians they're not going anyware as long as peps buy their music. They're many out who say the same about PJ's music but I tell them the same move on there's still plenty of us left that'll listen.

Geez, I can't wait to turn on the radio and TV and hear U2 everywhere. Maybe they'll even play their hit single twice at the live shows (again).

Like the guy said above...yea please go away

i dont want them to go away...i want them to come here again...

say what you want, the live show is an incredible thing to behold.

i dont agree with playing vertigo twice though, kind silly.

count me in! ive been kicking myself for years becos i let them pass me by on 3 straight tours. one of my closest friends saw them on the vertigo tour and said it was utterly amazing.
  • I'm looking forward to this album! I'm interested to see what direction they'll take it in, cos U2 would know themselves they have to change it up, they've done it in the past, they can do it again. And I caught one of their shows on the Vertigo tour last year, it was fucking brilliant!

I just wonder why Eno and Lanois are now, all of a sudden, helping to cowrite the songs for this new cd...rather than producing, only.

U2's last cd was certainly not as good as ATYCLB

U2 aren't half what they used to be, and they were never as good as they thought they were. They are one ego balloon that needs busted.
  • TheGossmanTheGossman Posts: 1,120
I agree about the ego balloon that needs to burst, the reason I think PJ is a better live band is because they look like they really enjoy playing, and when I saw U2 Bono and the Edge were awesome, while the drummer and bassist looked bored out of their minds, U2's new music isn't what it used to be, but they are still an amazing live band!

Actually that is Larry and Adam's trademark. They play it cool on stage similarily to the Strokes. I think they know there place and know the fans are there for Bono and the Edge.

    Exactly!

That is the case in many bands several are frontmen and others play it cool. True they always played there roles like this and I first saw them in Boston 1981.

...just like the Rolling Stone with the three (kinda of) frontmen....Jagger, Richards, Woods.....Wyman & Watts never seem excited about anything....or Entwhistle with the Who....only seemed involved in songs that he was singing.

Is the reason why it's gonna be great is because they now need Eno and Lanois to help them make music?

Why all of a sudden include them in the songwriting process?

Just off stage, man, just off stage......besides she sure didn't look like a 15 year old.

They've been included in the songwriting process since Unforgettable Fire. Just always uncredited. They both almost had a permanent split with U2 when they were not given some songwriting credits on All That You Can't Leave Behind.

I don't care who you have to work with, if it leads to albums like Unforgettable Fire, Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby I'm all for it. Three truly great albums, three albums breaking the mold of the previous album. That's an impressive feat.

I don't know if the new album will be great but U2 is never boring when they are going to new places musically.

I'm quite sure there are many songs by PJ where Brendan O'Brien should have a songwriting credit. That's why PJ continues to work with him. It's also the reason Jimmy Page produced Led Zeppelin and changed engineers regularly on their albums. He didn't want anyone else being given credit for his and the band's creative output.

There's no need to have the other band members active when you have a frontman like Bono @ US Festival 83'.
