Ah lucy that sounds like the perfect day! :)
And I have to laugh at the Miss Jeanie!! Sounds very much like my friends!! :D

And we doo love Byron. Haven't been for awhile. Probably 2003 I think. Due to go to QLD in a few months, might drive the hire car down for another little peek at Byron then. Usually find myself doing that! :)

So thanks for the suggestions. I'll add them to the list too. :)

Not to boast or anything, but I live about 45 mins drive from WAtegoes, in the Gold Coast boondocks, so I often nip down to Byron for a swim, or a coffee on a Sunday arvo. The road is only getting better too, so it only gets easier.
Our wedding day was pretty special. We all went surfing in the morning, then the dolphins came out during our ceremony, and we had a big double rainbow as well. Even the goats came down off the headland to say hi, and a lovely hippie interupted us to give us a wonderful drawing she had done of our ceremony. Then back to Rae's for dinner and sleeps.
It was all pretty hilarious actually !!!
    Cheers

Gee!! Thanks for that!! Not boasting!! Yeah right!! :)
I'm not jealous, nope I'm not!!

I get up to the Gold Coast whenever I can. Last time we stayed at Currumbin. Right on the beach and opposite the Wildlife Sanctuary!
Just beautiful!! I even learned to like the sound of planes again!! :D:D:D

Last time I was in Byron only really had time to go out to the lighthouse. Skipped the other stuff. Next time. Maybe April. :)

Well, now I'm really gonna earn some hate mail, cos I work at Palm Beach, and go to Currumbin every day for lunch and a swim or a surf , in fact I think I might have some nice white sand between my toes just now.
I'll give myself a bit of a slapping as punishment !! LOL !!

Ooooooh, thats true, I might need to check out the tix for that. Not very good at festivals generally, too old and fussy !! There should be some good gigs on in the area around the time though, I need to pay more attention.

Sarah Harmer - Open Window (The Wedding Song)

.....Sarah is a Canadian singer/songwriter - she wrote this song for her friends wedding. It appears on her album "You Were Here".....it is a great song and is obviously very appropriate for a wedding performance.

This is a great song. If you can do the powerhouse vocals, anything by Sarah Harmer would be a good choice.

    or...

    Thin Air - PJ

Driving all day we both said nothing
You threw your face in a magazine
I tuned in to the oldies station
Flew away in a time machine

    This world is so amazing
The sun is shining and it's raining too
I waited all my life for you

I don't mind sometimes not talking
Sometimes there ain't a thing to say
Anyway I know what you're thinking
And I kinda like it when you think that way

I think I'll just keep on driving
    Anywhere will do
I waited all my life for you

All this time I knew you were out there
All this time I knew someday I'd find you somewhere

Some people tell you everything they think of
Say yes I will and then they never do
Sometimes I gotta ask you to speak up
    Everything you say is true

    Say you'll be mine forever
    Never leave me blue
I waited all my life for you
I waited all my life for you

You're very welcome. I've had your request in the back of my mind since you posted and it came to me today. Todd is an amazing singer/songwriter in a folksy/Americana way. I hope you enjoy it. :D

Had another thought, still on PJ, Given to Fly, always very uplifting with a big upward movement in the music to the climax , you could get a bit corny and sing "there's a couple, given to fly".

If you come up, give us a shout, we are a short drive from Byron and our home is always open to visitors. I think the 4 day pass is about $300 or so though, which was putitng me off a bit, but I could be hopelessly wrong about that as well. Bonnie Raiitt would be good to see too, and John Mayer of course, as well as JBT, mmmmm maybe I will go.

Yeah, $300 is a lot of cash!! It's a pretty impressive line up though! Difficult to ignore! Thanks for the invite! Very kind of you. Might just do that if I make it up! Shout you a drink for all your help. :)

so what did you sing Jeanie? :)

Sounds like you've my kinda range too. I'm best singing those singers you named. I love singing you were meant for me and forgiven.
    The Astoria??? Orgazmic!
    Verona??? it's all surmountable
Dublin 23.08.06 "The beauty of Ireland, right there!"
    Wembley? We all believe!
Copenhagen?? your light made us stars
    Chicago 07? And love
    What a different life
Had I not found this love with you

um....didn't end up singing Hels. :o

I asked my girlfriend if she would mind if I didn't. And I did a reading instead.

So we should have a sing along you and me girlie. :)

I do much better with my drunken singing, usually trot out Paradise by The Dashboard Light when I'm suitably pissed!! :D
