Who did you see at Lolla that you didn't know much about, didn't listen to very much, but really impressed you?

Patti Smith for me. I knew very little about her and went to check her out. Blew me away. Best performance next to PJ for me without a doubt.

ben harper. alot of, if not everyone on this board loves ben because he's 'associated' with pearl jam. im not one to follow a crowd so i never got into his music i guess. my friend i was with wanted to see his show that night becuz im always down for whatever i said yes! we hadd a good spot in the center kinda close. i must say that i was HIGHLY impressed with his show. The very first song he sang, it started out great. Then he did this little move after singing a lyric and he walked to the back. That right there got me. I was SO exxxcited to see and hear the rest of the show. Right then i became a ben harper fan and will DEFINITELY see him again!!!

also i hadd never seen G-love and the special sauce! GREAT GREAT show!!! G-love does a song that is ALLLLLLLL me!!! 'i like cold beverages, i like cold beverages, stick it in the fridge stick it in the fridge...' YESSS!!!!

and.....these guys "!!!" hahahaha a few other bands but i cant seem to recall them at the moment......

Biggest surprise for me was The Roots. I've heard good things, but I'm not really into rap so I was surprised how much I enjoyed their show.

Biggest let down for me probably was Spoon. Their show wasn't bad, but I skipped most of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs to get close, and I was a little disappointed. Not much interaction with the crowd and they left out some key songs I wanted to hear.

The high point for me was Eddie playing with Ben Harper. I was four rows from Eddie playing the greatest anti-war song of all time with Ben. It really can't get much better than that!

    Other great shows:

    The Black Keys
    Rodrigo y Gabriella
    The Stooges
    My Morning Jacket

Did I forget to mention PJ? :)

thats who i was trying to remember! Rodrigo and gabriella!!! good show right there! and for the record, MUSE freakin tore stuff up!!! awesome show!!!

WAIT!!! did i mention snow patrol?! i love their music but hadd never been to a show. Me and my friend got up really close to the stage and thought we were gonna get to just chill at a calm show. TOTALLY OPPOSITE!!! people were SO into snow patrol that they were CROWD SURFING!!! it was INSANE!!! that right there has got to be thee best memory from lollapalooza. When they played 'as i lay here' one of the fans near us moved the crowd and layed out on the floor with his arms behind his head and was so into the song. People were jumping on him and he still layed there with a smile! needless to say snow patrol was a VERY good exxxperience.
