Maybe,.. but more likely because a lot of the big things about Neil Young are in Pearl Jam's blood. Long, amazing jams, simple effective melodies, dynamic, etc.quote]
yeah you're right. i didn't really mean they like neil young because pearl jam likes neil young, cause i get annoyed when people say that...but yeah i'm sure a lot of people on here prefer neil young because of his music with crazy horse and the similarities it has with pearl jam's music because they were a bigger influence on pearl jam than dylan. i just happened to like dylan a lot more than neil personally.
Of curse that here Neil is going to win because we are in a PJ forum.
i was into neil young before PJ came around the scene..
neil=the bomb..
who has watched the mtv filming of when neil young and led zepplin
got incucted into the rock & roll hall of fame?
neil blew jimi page off the map..
it was insane how powerful neil was gittin down..
they jammed together doin each others tunes..
neil had j page in awe..
robert plant was dumb founded by neils over powering talent..
totaly neil had j page at his mercy..
I'm a pretty big fan from Neil Young...
Bob Dylan was a great source of inspiration for him, and I agree that he is good but I just can't listen to his music...
I don't want to be the fool that's behind me but I am...

not for me no.. i guess its all subjective.. but I just really connect more with Neil's work.. and like I said before I think the huge reason for me is how there are 2 very different sides to Neil.. both of which I love... the tame folk influenced songwriter and the feedback driven grunge warrior lol.. but hey thats just me
Dylan's got diversity out his ass too (though not as much as Neil).
Folk God, one of the best blues artists in history, the Blonde on Blonde folk rock stuff, beautiful work in between those genres like Blood on the Tracks..
but great point, it's almost like there's a light and dark Neil Young.
I love them both and I'd hate to have to choose, but if I did have to, I'd have to go with Bob. I'm a lyrics person, and no one comes close to Dylan as a lyricist.
"Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity." ~ MLK, 1963
Neil in a rout.....for all of his greatness, Dylan just doesn't hold my ear the way Neil does.
All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a thousand enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you, digger, listener, runner, prince with the swift warning. Be cunning and full of tricks and your people shall never be destroyed.
I looooooooooooove john lennon - lyrically I'd take him over Young on a lot of days - but Dylan is peerless as a lyricist.
Dylan is a good poet but his words mean fuck all to me. Ray Davies of the Kinks is my all time favorite lyricist with solo John Lennon a close second. Dylan is "The Beatles" of lyrics to me... completely overrated!!! Here's an example of Ray Davies genious. These are the lyrics to a song called "Have Another Drink".
Has everybody got problems?
Are you stuck in a deadend job?
Frustrated and dissatisfied?
Are you on the edge of suicide?
Terrorist bombers on the left,
Fascist plots on the right.
Mass destruction and homicide,
Are you horrified and terrified?
Such a shame.
We've all got problems we know,
There's one thing that's for sure,
There's only one cure for all your hangups and all your depressions.
Have another drink it'll make you feel better,
Have another drink and you'll feel alright.
If you feel down and you're under the weather
Have another drink and you'll feel alright.
(Repeat above four lines).
Facts and figures.
Filling out forms.
Reading circulars.
Dictating letters.
Is your occupation
Getting to your brain?
Is there no relief?
It's like a ball and chain.
There's no need to get depressed,
Worrying won't make it better.
There's only one consolation I can recommend.
Don't take my word for it, try it for yourself.
Have another drink and you'll feel alright.
Have another drink it'll make you feel better.
Have another drink and you'll feel alright.
Have another drink it'll make you feel better.
Have another drink and you'll feel alright.
If you're feeling down and you're under the weather,
Have another drink and you'll feel alright.
Have another drink it'll make you feel better,
