And Oasis should be supporting Ryan Adams.....

Noel Gallagher is a far better comedian than he is a musician.

    Agreed.....

Never seen the appeal of Oasis.....

  • I don't really see that what he said was particularly arrogant - he wasn't saying Oasis are on the same level as the Stones, he just said people know what Oasis sound like, just like they know what the Stones sound like. And what he said about Ryan Adams read to me like friendly ribbing.

If Liam had said it, I'd call him a dick. :)
Smokey Robinson constantly looks like he's trying to act natural after being accused of farting.

Noel is probably one of the most arrogant musicians out there who to me just doesn't have the talent to warrant it.....

Ryan Adams wipes the floor with him in terms of songwriting.....

I'm not saying he's not arrogant: that's a given. I'm just saying of all the things he's said, this isn't the one you should be taking umbrage with. :)

I like a lot of what he says. He's hilarious when asked what he thinks of his own music: He thinks nearly all of its shite, but that they plug away, keep a similar vibe going, and write "Oasis" music. Theyll never change their style.

Im not a real fan of their music anymore, but i think he's quite funny with how blunt he is.

And to be fair, he's right about the comparison with the Stones. Everyone knows who they are, everyone knows their sound, everyone knows their best days were in their early career and that theyre riding the crest of that wave still, and that theyll always sound the same....sounds like the stones to me!!!

Noel is the man. You pretty much took his bait.

Pretty much everything Oasis say has to be taken with a massive grain of salt. It amazes me that people still get so bent out of shape about what they say. They've been doing this for years, and people still bite. Genius marketing strategy.
  • just like Billy Corgan, you have to understand Noel's sense of humor and personality to really understand things they say. take it with a grain of salt rather than so literally.

    both are epic musicians/songwriters, IMO.

as quoting from both Liam and Noel " americans don't get us" nothing that noel said in that article was in anyway insulting to anyone did peopel even read what he said.

Hardly. Ryan Adams is the most overrated critics' darling out there. His music is so boring it should come with warnings about driving while listening.
she was underwhelmed, if that's a word

I don't think Noel is a prick, he has just ever so slightly too much charisma and humour, not to mention under stated self deprication, to qualify as a prick. He's no comedian, just a funny guy at times, a funny guy that writes some good songs, and plays and sings pretty good also.
His brother on the other hand.... :D
As for Ryan Adams....hmmm, never flicked my switch personally.
    I came, I saw, I concurred.....

jesus fucking christ you people shit me at times. what did gallagher say that was so bad? or even bad at all? basically all he said was oasis have a recognisable sound just like the rolling stones do. the punters know it either you like 'em or you dont. but you def know what youre getting going in. and its true. its you all who just cant help but rag on the gallaghers no matter what they say that are the tossers.
i know a lot of you think oasis are talentless borish fuckers but there are an equal amount of people who actually like what they do. and you cant say they have crap musical taste cause those people listen to pearl jam as well. so what you dont like their music or whatever.
without exception liam and noel gallagher make me laugh. i read their interviews and its a fucking change from the shoe gazers out there who take themselves way too seriously. both gallaghers say what they think and they arent afraid to do so. and guess what? they dont give a shit what you think.

Good lord, an egocentric rockstar? Whoever heard of the sort?

I'd take Gallaghers arrogant claims - and his music - over the false modest, self depricating and whingey shit like Coldplay any day.

Oasis aren't The Beatles or The Stones no matter what they claim. But (especially if you're in the UK) many of their songs are anthemns that everyone can identify with. I think that Wonderwall and Don't Look Back In Anger are just some of those timeless songs that everybody knows.

Well he pretty much said the truth...I think Oasis outsold the Stones a few albums ago..and they sell out the same stadiums the Stones have played only longer..I dont see where he is wrong. One thing good ole Noel should hope for is the longevity that the Stones have relished.

Well, tbh I thought it was great to hear him being nice about someone for a change, though...if I'm frank (hi Frank :p ) I'd say he tries rather too hard to be funny. That line you quote...funny? nah, not especially . just imo tho :o:)

thats your opinion.. so why is Ryan Adams SUPPORTING Oasis?

I also read Ryan Adams said Wonderwall was a perfect song.

you like Ryan Adams, I like Noel Gallagher... its called opinion and it helps the world go round... it'd be one shit world if all we were alowed to listen to was critic friendly nonce rock
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.
