She really is.....

Overated and passionless drivel, I do not see the attraction with this woman at all.....

She's pretty abysmal live too.....

I like her albums actually. Pretty dark stuff. Sick to death of the tabloid circus that surrounds her and I've got no sympathy for drug trainwrecks such as herself.

But if I only listened to music based on my opinion of the actual artist, I wouldn't have a very big record collection ;)

Well, she looks like a 20 year old horse....

    but I believe she's 24.....

I wouldn't mind all the hype she gets if she was worth it but her music is dull at best and now there's a whole breed of NME worshipping copyists like Duffy and Adele.....

    A bit cruel!

Amy can sing the balls off most people mentioned on this board. :p

I agree that she is a train wreck (happening and waiting to happen), but she does have a great voice and the writing is good. Not sure if she writes, so what I really mean is that the songs are good. Or, at least I think so.

Now, live? What I have seen has not been impressive, but most of what I have seen of her live performances has been in the last year. Not a good year for Amy. Hopefully, she will get her sh*T together and use the talent she has!
I still want you all to "take care"--I am just damn tired of typing it.

It's bad enough that Kurt Nobrain is still seen as a genius just because he's fucking dead. We don't need Amy Winehouse joining him.

Should put her picture on a poster with the caption...This is what Crack does to you.

I wish a guy like Eddie, would like me.
  • LEAVE OFF!

Amy Winehouse is as talented and as fucked up as Ella Fitzgerald, Bilie Holiday and their ilk.

The difference is the media circus around her and idiots like you slagging her off are making it ten times worse.

I bought her first album, frank, the month it came out on a whim and it is absolutely brilliant vocally, she wrote a fair portion of the songs too.

And her live shows were excellent, right up until about eighteen months ago. the label just want to run her into the ground and make fast bucks created by media circus, people are going to see a freak show, not to hear her sing. no wonder she couldnt give a shit at Glasto.

And the copyists are also results of labels, not amy personally. u want to call pearl jam idiots for the likes of puddle of mudd and creed? duffy and the others wish they had half amy's talent...duffy sounds like a freakin duck!

    so whats new?
  • passionless?

    er...

    I couldn't resist him
    His eyes were like yours
His hair was exactly the shade of brown
He's just not as tall, but I couldn't tell
It was dark and I was lying down

You are everything – he means nothing to me
I can't even remember his name
    Why're you so upset?
Baby, you weren't there and I was thinking of you when I came

    What do you expect?
You left me here alone; I drank so much and needed to touch
Don't overreact – I pretended he was you
You wouldn't want me to be lonely

How can I put it so you understand?
I didn't let him hold my hand
But he looked like you; I guess he looked like you
    No he wasn't you
But you can still trust me, this ain't infidelity
It's not cheating; you were on my mind

    Yes he looked like you
But I heard love is blind…

    I think Amy is incredible.
    Give the girl a break.
Where were all of you when a certain member of a certain band that we all love was dependent on booze and drugs???? Were you all sitting on your high horses then?

Eh, I kind of like Duffy as well but it's pretty obvious that she's riding the coattails of this 60s/70s soul revival thing Winehouse seems to be spearheading.

she is totally messed up, a real deal crack head, but all that aside I think she is the most talented female singer in the world. Her albums are amazing and her voice is unmatched. She would be amazing live if she ever preformed sober... take the drugs out of this girls life and she would be taking over the music world, not the tabloid world. Her story is really sad to me
Further back and forth a wave will break on me, today...
  • she perfomred sober for years, even after black to black was released she was doing great gigs.

Betcha she'll be dead before New Years. Or at least severely overdoses herself.

    Thank you Trixiecat! :)

    Great voice!
I’m not one to kick anyone when they’re up, let alone when they’re down.
She's a great talent and in trouble, and I hope she makes it through this ordeal. It’s another typical story of success to someone young and not ready to handle it financially or mentally, coupled with the pressures that the record companies put on them to produce more music and tour. Now in the internet age, people are subject to relentless publicity where your every move is watched and judged by people sitting behind their computer screen or TV.

Haha,,, I just had the beehive B-52's on! Lava's a great song!

i love a good double standard, don't you? reminds me of the people round here slagging emo for being about white suburban kids whining about their problems... people who worship a band that made their name via a song and video called jeremy about a white suburban kid's problems.

amy winehouse's album was pretty good, though i'll admit my fav track was the last one she did with ghostface, gave a little edge that i felt was lacking.
    and like that... he's gone.

I have to admit, I like her, I dig her voice. Now as far as the other crap that surrounds her, I am not a fan.
Thats a lovely accent you have. New Jersey?
