  • If like me you lead a sad life and have nothing to do this Christmas, put on the whole Joe Strummer collection, from the 101ers to the Mescelaros. no one can come close to his genius or variation in style. As much as i love Pearl Jam, i dont think you can ever put The Clash and them in the same league.

I'm sure a lot of people on this site would love to argue with you
    hehe

few people have heard of his out of Clash work, which is sad. The 101ers are good, not as good as any of the Clash material. The Mescelaros stuff is so good its ridiculous, and some of it is better than some Clash stuff but some Clash stuff is better than some Mescerlaros stuff as well.
I've faced it, a life wasted, and I'm never going back again.

    Some die just to live.
  • I just want to add my love for the clash.... fucking rule!
This is gonna sound weird, but I own a tree in Joe Strummer's forest! hehehe Anyone remember futureforests.com???? Well, Mr Strummer died around my birthday, so in his memory i bought myself a tree in the forest that they dedicated to him. That band makes my day...

One of the first band to really move (thanks my best friend's older brother back in the 70's).

A band that really evolved in a fantastic way (up to a certain point) and covered many different kinds of music areas. Not sure if "punk" is applicable on their whole career though.

I'm really gratefuI got to see Joe Strummer perform once.

I've seen over 1,000 concerts so far... The Clash were the best live band of them all. Pure electric energy and grit with - surprisingly to some - plenty of peace and love thrown in. With a snarl though. Incredible band.

Got into them a decade ago and their albums with a Xmas Borders gift card and never looked back. London Calling is the best album of all time by anyone.

    RIP JS.

InHiding80 by any chance did you also get - right around the time Borders went out of business, that amazing Clash photo book that was bright pink on the cover and huge and only $5.00? Still can't believe it went for that cheap, but Borders was closing, people found them for $5.00 all over the US at that time...

Best band ever, whatever genre you would like to call them. All of Joe's work is absolutely brilliant. Been a fan since 1981 when I first heard them, I was 11 at the time.
