it's always all about radiohead, soundgarden, metallica, stp, aic and chris cornell?
seriously, people. find something new... i've been coming to these boards since 2003 and it's always been the same thing...
in that sense... can anybody give me any recommendations for good modern rock that's out there today?
please, no my morning jacket... or kings of leon... something new and fresh.
interpol's already old. bloc party is already fading. and probably not liked by many of you.
anyways... i'll leave it up to your judgement... i'm not gonna rant again... i promise.
My Morning Jacket!!!!
oh... I see... like that is it?

"I try my best to chug, stomp, weep, whisper, moan, wheeze, scat, blurt, rage, whine, and seduce. With my voice I can sound like a girl, the boogieman, a Theremin, a cherry bomb, a clown, a doctor, a murderer. I can be tribal. Ironic. Or disturbed. My voice is really my instrument."
15 years ago maybe, but here in 2008 that stuff isn't even remotely close to being the best music. Radiohead excluded. At least those guys are still making brilliant music.

Check out We Are Scientists, The Whigs, Great Northern, Mellowdrone and The Oohlas. Those are all really cool bands that get very little mention...plus they are pretty good as well!

Radiohead isn't fit to lick Jerry Cantrells ballsweat.
Deadnothingbetter... I agree with you. It always the same shit on these boards. If you attempt to recommend something all people want to do is bash you. If you want something new, a group that challenges themselves on every album, I would suggest Coheed and Cambria. Musically I feel they are the most talented band in the world right now. Yeah, I know thats a strong statement. This band can play it all though, their songs range from 8 minutes to 3 minutes. The lead singer Claudio Sanchez can absolutely shred, and they have been known to jam out for 10 minutes. Anyway, I saw them live twice and I have never seen any band bring this much energy in my life. Here are 3 songs by them off youtube. Just watch the energy and emotion this band brings:
i was into them back in the "favorite house atlantic" hit song... i really love that song... couldn't get into any of their other stuff... too emo for me i guess... i'm not sure it's what they play. maybe i'll give them a listen again.
This isn't the land of opportunity, it's the land of competition.
You should definitely give Fugazi a listen. Though not exactly a "new" band, I can never get tired of their music. and they're possibly the best live band ever..
their 2nd album, ten silver drops, is fantastic (as is their first). think alternative, mostly mid-tempo, pyschadellic sonic guitars, big beat drums, ambience, whispy vocals, sometimes weird but always melodic. we're not talking catchy radio tunes, their songs generally won't affect you too much on first listen, but slowly...
I'm listening to Delta Spirit for the first time right now. Figured I'd see what they're all about since I'm seeing them open for Dr. Dog soon.
I love this album.
i've seen them a few times now live...and i promise that you won't be disappointed!! they really are quite amazing live and i've seen them outshine/perform the acts that they were opening for.
yes...i do feel like a human. i do not feel like a tree.

If there were less threads about Radiohead, Bruce Springsteen, Chris Cornell, et al, maybe the more obscure stuff wouldn't sink so quickly. Oh well.
Anyway, I too just got into The Walkmen recently. That new album is gorgeous.
