I hate rappers , rap , hip-hop, regeeaton and all that fucking shit.
I had respect for this genre sometime, but now is just fucking horrible.
i'm all for freedom of speech but the "i hate comments" only bog down a good thread.
a lot of good names, kind of surprising that nobody mentioned eric b and rakim, the beastie boys or krs-one.

i listened to it a lot during the 1990s especially 1992 and 93. i'm not old enough to actually remember a lot of the old school artists. but I have a few friends that pointed me in the right direction and i watch old rap videos on you tube all the time.

your argument is null and void when you listed LL Cool J as a good rapper.

Well i'm not really a rap fan so i don't have much to add, but I do hear friends play rap from time to time that i don't mind and i saw many of the ones i have enjoyed on folks list, but .... no outkast?
Are they not considered "good" rappers?
I always thought they were pretty cool.

meh, they have some good songs, but they are pretty far down on the rap credibility list as far as i'm concerned.
i'm far from an authority on rap or any music for that matter, but personally i think they're pretty huge.. i'm not really sure about credibility (other artists or general public? - gen. public i'd agree with you, however most other artists of respect have quite a lot of respect for them)
paul's boutique and check your head = absolutely brilliant (especially paul's from a hip hop point of view)
If you hate rap it's because you listen to the radio too much. Aside from the obvious like Nas, there are plenty of underground rappers that are still about the lyrics and not a bout sellin' a record cough*50*cough.

I agree most rap sucks now. It is more like dance music now. Its so commercial. Then again the state of rock is pretty much the same.
So far we have a lot of great lists of artists that our younger jammer friends might not know. Hopefully they check them out.
