i'm all for freedom of speech but the "i hate comments" only bog down a good thread.

I agree most rap sucks now. It is more like dance music now. Its so commercial. Then again the state of rock is pretty much the same.

So far we have a lot of great lists of artists that our younger jammer friends might not know. Hopefully they check them out.

to have only two people list the god RAKIM is a disgrace. do you people even know who he is? ive listened to rap and hip hop since 1991. spun it for years too. this is the list:: the debate is ALWAYS krs or ra. i am partial to krs due to the longevity factor and the knowledge.

i listened to it a lot during the 1990s especially 1992 and 93. i'm not old enough to actually remember a lot of the old school artists. but I have a few friends that pointed me in the right direction and i watch old rap videos on you tube all the time.

Well i'm not really a rap fan so i don't have much to add, but I do hear friends play rap from time to time that i don't mind and i saw many of the ones i have enjoyed on folks list, but .... no outkast?

Are they not considered "good" rappers?

I always thought they were pretty cool.

If you hate rap it's because you listen to the radio too much. Aside from the obvious like Nas, there are plenty of underground rappers that are still about the lyrics and not a bout sellin' a record cough*50*cough.
