"Don't be faint-hearted, I have a solution! We shall go and commandeer some small craft, then drift at leisure until we happen upon another ideal place for our waterside supper with riparian entertainments."

Bands around Philly really suck for the most part. Not a lot of originality, just a lot of cover bands. Dr. Dog and Marah are two exceptional ones though.
I'm from South Jersey and a couple of friends of mine are in a "grunge" type band. They're really good. Inspired by Pearl Jam, The Who, The Strokes and other good bands.
Down the street you can hear her scream youre a disgrace
As she slams the door in his drunken face
And now he stands outside
And all the neighbours start to gossip and drool
He cries oh, girl you must be mad,
What happened to the sweet love you and me had?
Against the door he leans and starts a scene,
And his tears fall and burn the garden green
Only bands/musicians i really like from Glasgow these days are Glavegas and Malcom Middleton. Going east in Scotland i also love King Creoste and James Yorkston.
And obviously Mogwai are still amazing, saw them a couple weeks ago and they were great.
People say im paranoid. Well, they dont say it, but i know that's what they are thinking.

And last but not least Big Dave McLean. This guy is one of the best blues guitarists to ever live. He played with Muddy Waters back in the day and appeared on SNL with him. More people need to hear of Big Dave.

The Gravity Crisis - pop/punk powerhouses.
Lazy J - funk/rock.
The Velvet Texas Cannonball - the British Black Crowes?
Electric Animals - sexy, sleazy, dirty, raucous rawk.
Jazz Thrash Assassin - lounge music combined with Thrash Metal and a healthy dose of FNM-style humour.
Augustine - synth-based hyperactive rock.
Untitled Musical Project - noisy, fast punk/rock chaos.
Mr Derry - good-time danceable rock n' roll fun (sadly now split up?).
Misty's Big Adventure - somewhere between the Flaming Lips and the Divine Comedy?
