I suggest Lover's Story. Very catchy. I've seen these guys multiple times and they put on a awesome show. Always high energy and fun.

Bands around Philly really suck for the most part. Not a lot of originality, just a lot of cover bands. Dr. Dog and Marah are two exceptional ones though.

This is the best little band you have never heard of. They are from Detroit and put on a kick ass rock show. The songs they have on myspace are a little slow right now but they do a great job of mixing the heavy with the light. It's a husband and wife that are in between drummers right now. They met at Michigan State. If you ever have a chance to see them live take advantage of it.

but there's this band Goon. not sure how local they're to me anymore as the members live in different towns but this place (Kotka, Finland) is where they started! and they rule!!
