    For me:

My Morning Jacket (Atlanta and Asheville) - Both killer shows with very high energy and great crowds!

Kings of Leon - All 4 shows - these guys blew the roof off of each venue

which MMJ show in Atlanta did you see? the one most recently at the Tabernacle or the one before at the Roxy? I was at both and enjoyed both a lot!

Which Kings of Leon show? Was it in Atlanta? was it when they came through with secret machines and played the tabernacle and their were so few tickets sold they closed off the balconies and only the floor was open?

i was at that show too :)

Hmm.. Metallica in Oslo in 2003 was great, they always put on a great show..Same with U2 in Oslo in 2005.. Bob Dylan in Oslo this year was fantastic, much better than last time I saw him..
But the best non-pearl jam concert must be Bruce with the Seeger Sessions band..What a show! Bruce is the best live artist(and artist generally) I know beside Pearl Jam..

Oh man, I wish I could've seen that. I love Awesome! I Fucking Shot That!. It might be the best concert DVD ever made.

I saw the MMJ show at the Tabernacle and it was absolutely unbelievable! They were so good.

I saw KOL in Atlanta about 2-3 years ago, right after their first album and it was great! I also saw them in Myrtle Beach, Charlotte, and Asheville. All shows were great! I hope to see them in ATL June 1st and I already have tixs to see them in Asheville June 2nd!!!!!!

  • Korn at this really small club in Bakersfield CA...way before they were big. One of my friends got his leg broken in the mosh pit..and my roommate's band opened for them - kicking major ass.

    This was before they sucked.

    Aerosmith in 2005.

I heard I was going the day of the show, so I didn't research sets or anything.

The lights went down, and they opened with 'Helter Skelter', I couldn't fucking believe it.

AIC @ donington 06 as i thought I would never ever see Alice in chains.
But AIC @ astoria was a better show.

Seeing metallica was pretty neat, hearing entire of master of puppets.

Got cornell lined up next week.... and pumpkins who i thought i would never ever see in a month or so...

so its a hard one to say.

  • Ani Difranco Atl 06....2nd row dead center!!! The show was GA and we had to wait for hours outside to get that spot. Seeing the amopunt of emotion she puts into playing up that close left me mesmerized.

That's a very good question. I'd have to narrow it down to one of two:

    The Lemonheads in Mainz, Germany at a small rock venue called "Der Kuz" in 1994. The vibe was so perfect that night. Or;

U2 playing at the Summit for the "All that you Can't Leave Behind" tour. Not their best album or best tour but very special to me.

    Foo Fighters - Astoria
Foos sets are usually fairly formulaic and predictable, they don't change the setlist much at all. But they played 2 songs they've only ever played that time, and the order of the setlist made the show flow a lot better than usual. I was in the pit for the first 2 thirds but got tired and sat on a ledge at the side. Remember thinking this would be one of the best teenager memories I'll have. And it was. :)

    Dave Pajo - Roadhouse, Manchester
The guy's AMAZING. Best folk act I've ever seen. He was really quiet singing but everyone went deftly silent, never seen anyone command the stage like that without being an egomaniac. He was wasted in Zwan.

Seafood - On The Rocks, London
Uber long gig for them (2 hours opposed to just over an hour) and they had a laugh. First time I had ever seen them and certainly the best. Chatted with them quite a few times about that gig since then and they've said it was definitely the best gig they've ever played. So that was nice.

The Frames - The Junction, Cambridge
Was a tiny venue that didn't even sell out. Last date of the tour so they had a laugh and mucked about with the setlist. Loads of banter too, was great. Don't care if people say they're boring, they put on a good show.

The Tragically Hip at last year's Sasquatch Festival. Absolutely mind-blowing! I felt sorry for The Shins for having to go on after them.
