Burden Brothers :D If you were a Toadies fan... check these guys out (hint, hint) :D They kick ass. They are a Great band, and their live shows are even better. I've seen them live 4 times so far. They also sign your albums and take pics with you after the shows... Alot of people wonder what happened to Vaden Todd Lewis after Toadies.... and he is still around making kick ass music... I swear to you, so if you were a fan of grunge or 90s alternative rock check this band out.

None of these bands are really new are they to be honest? out of the ones mentioned id say Bloc Party, Arcade Fire and Broken Social scene are my favourites, hard to pick one of them though.

Loving the sunshine underground album at the moment, highly reccomment if you havent already got it. The new single Borders is out soon and its on their myspace. http://www.myspace.com/thesunshineunderground
People say im paranoid. Well, they dont say it, but i know that's what they are thinking.
  • I think the thread starter meant NEW as in the past couple years. Not like new new. I am thinking he didn't want any classic rock mentions in this thread? I can't really tell for sure. But that is how I interpreted it.

I'm not sure that that's the point...."indie" has become a genre/sound a la "grunge". I believe i've read in previous posts what a HUGE fan you are of the term "grunge" ;)

Exactly, most "indie" labels now have distributions right up there with the big, evil record companies. They are even getting advertisments in major retail stores.

    Indie has become a genre.

I think Arcade Fire is the best of the original choices.

i concur w/ cold war kids and annuals!!! love 'em.

    hahaha i know.

however, record stores usually have separate sections for "indie" which is dedicated to all sorts of genres, but mainly rock-based, under independent labels.

it's a little ironic, but makes sense.

thank god there's no grunge sections, right? :)
  • Indie on Capital?
