  • i love youth and young manhood and aha shake heartbreak, i dont mind because of the times but only by the night has been a huge disapointment. sorry guys but i needed to say it. i miss the southern rock sound, the last two albums too commercial and poppy and only by the night way too mellow and slow they just dont pull it off for me. their new music seems to be aimed at radio play and teenagers. on a positive note, i do have to say calebs voice sounds superb on this record, especially on manhattan. but its not enough the music is too experimental not what i was expecting which is a shame. i know you guys are die hard fans and if i was, im sure i would have loved it too. they started to loose me on because of the times.

i saw them on letterman the last night and caleb just didnt look very comfortable at all?

The music is too experimental, yet it's aimed at radio play?

What you need to do is listen to the record late at night after a few beers, it fits that vibe perfectly! :D

The thing I like about KOL, is that they are all about fun. The thing I hate about KOL, is that they are all about fun.

Sometimes it does seem they are trying to push for a more mainstream aesthetic and really focused on image...when I heard the first single was called "sex on fire" I rolled my eyes...but its not like I expect a lot of depth from the guys who wrote "soft". Just gotta take them for what they are.
  • i might just have to buy this cd

Jesus don't love me, no one ever carried my load
I'm too young to feel this old"

This line stuck out to me when I first listened to the album....great to hear the story behind the song.

Its a song you can get lost in....very hypnotic. Lyrics are amazing. I've listened to this song 100 times since i first heard it. Truely a great song.

I love the bass riff in the beginning, gives me chills.
I pledge to you a government that will not only work well, but wisely, its ability to act tempered by prudence, and its willingness to do good, balanced by the knowledge that government is never more dangerous than when our desire to have it help us blinds us to its great power to harm us.

  • Buying this CD is on my to-do list this weekend. What I've heard I REALLY like. :)

Closer, Crawl, Manhattan, and Cold Desert are all good. Rest is forgettable in my opinion.
  • Did you go to any of the shows this tour for MMJ? Fucking amazing - the new songs sound great live. And "Librarian" is a well thought out, written song.
i think they played almost the entire album at Roo. they sounded good, but i still thinks its their weakest album. loved hearing crazy shit like Highly Suspicious, though. i think what hurts the album for me is all the bad songs like Sec Walkin' in the middle. the beginning and end of that album is pretty good.

killer show though. one of the best live shows i ever saw.
  • Instant classic. Absolutely love it. Best album I've bought since Because Of The Times. LOL!

Going to see them in November. Again. For the fifth time this year. Haha.

Use Somebody. Sex On Fire. Favs.
