I actually JUST bought it today, and I agree; it's incredible. This band is amazing. It's like country-grunge.

Southern Rock Opera is amazing it's their 1st major label release came out in 2001 it is a tribute to Lynard Skynard, no cover tunes though. Its a concept record that tells the whole Skynard story.

Dirty South & Decoration Day both amazing records in their own right as well.

I can guarantee at least 5 better albums from Athens that aren't by REM

    Agreed. Great album.

Their live show rivals Pearl Jam's show.

Got it. I haven't listened to the entire thing yet- I got to hear about half of it last night in the car, but what' I've heard so far is great.

I've heard they're a great live band before, bur for some reason every time they play here I miss them. I think they've played Jax twice in the last year. Next time, hopefully.

I saw those dates on their site, unfortunately when they're playing in my neck o' the woods I'll be out of state, on vacation. :(

I have all the Truckers albums and am going to pick this one up today. I am looking forward to the tour w/ Robert Randolph and the Black Crowes. I am planning on going to the shows in Camden on Friday and then Holmdel on Saturday.

For Holmdel I am trying to get a whole bunch of old friends together for a day long tailgate. If anyone else is going, feel free to send me a PM if you'd like to join in. It's going to be a good time and a great show.

Check out local independent records stores before rolling into Best Buys for this album......the indy down the street gave a four song EP with each purchase of ABAAC.......which had one new song, the "Like A Rolling Stone" cover and two live tracks. I paid more than $7.99, but feel like I got something in return.

Wow...what shocks me about that setlist is how little of the new stuff they are playing....

Not being critical at all...but you'd think with an album being less than a week old...

I think they've been playing quite a bit of new stuff on their club and European tour.

Yeah, it is strange not to play a bunch the week the album came out though.

    Outfit
    My Sweet Annette
    Marry Me

I still have to see Zip City and Outfit live....although seeing People Who Died was a nice touch.

I have a blessing and a curse and the dirty south.

I was going to get the great southern rock opera next. Would you suggest that or decoration day? Or another one?

    thanks

I would say Decoration Day is a bit more consistent of a record, I don't usually skip anything on there, but SRO has some of my absolute favorite songs on it (Zip City, Women Without Whiskey, 72). So really you could go either way.

Too many good songs on each album.

Look at the love for the "Stroker Ace".........three damn fine songs, if I say so myself. I have seen "Zip City" and "Women without Whiskey" live. "72" live would be to die for........

Speaking of which...where the hell is Zip City exactly. I met a woman in Nashville who said she was from there.
