Nice one! You believe the talk of there being a double or even triple album release?

I think it's good - Better is catchy as fuck. But it sounds a bit weird, can't put my finger on it. Too polished?

Having not listened yet, but its being getting polished for years lol.:)

THe new song #1 is Rhiad and the Bedouins and that isn't going to be on Chinese Democracy so I'm wondering where these came from. I like the other two new songs, very different from old Guns.

Is Better co-performed by Linkin Park? the intro sounds very much like it.

Quite a few of these songs sound like they should of been released say 12 years ago, sound very dated not saying there not good the others sound like they are polished to sound more modern and in fitting with recent styles blended in, Madagascar sounds almost like it has a bit of a Portishead sound going on spliced with a rock overture (ok its just gone mental with lots of samples been thrown in not digging this one), I'm liking them dont get me wrong but this record is going to be pulled apart, its got 14 years of criticism heading its way.

New song 2, another with the Linkin Park effect.

New song 3, another taking the ambient trip hop, of the likes of Portishead, sSneaker Pimps, Massive Attack mixed with a bit of rock guitar and axls vocals, (Massive Attack and co were doing this back in the late 90's check out the album Mezzanine a classic) I'm not hearing nothing new or ground breaking I would say to anyone saying such to broaden their musical horizons.

I've always been a huge GNR fan but I really hope that these 9 leaked tracks are supposed to be b-sides that were cut from the new album. Aside from "Better", these songs sound pretty weak, for GNR anyway.
  • Thanks so much for doing.
Even though you had to take it down, you did an awesome thing and got it out there for everyone.

Hopefully there are no other ramifications for you and all goes well.

You're very welcome. We've gotten some lawsuit threats from the GNR camp (hence the update) but they won't amount to anything I'm sure. And like you said, at least the songs are out in the world now.
    That's what matters.

Its a good thing the songs fell into the hands of someone good. Back when people had other leaks all they did was hoard them.

How long did you have these songs before you released them?

You people blow my mind. These songs are ok, but nothing close the the magic of the original GNR. VR is 100times better then this. Contraband and Libertab are great albums.

That link is down, but I'm curious to know whether it's New Song #1 or #2 on the tracks we've got. I can't tell which is If the World, and which is This I Love. Anybody know?

hmmmm...not as bad as people are saying...props for trying something different....best idea would have been a solo record...then a real GnR reunion.
  • FirecloudFirecloud Posts: 516
OK I figured it out, thanks. If anyone cares, here's the rough lyrics to "New Song #2," possibly called This I Love:

It seemed like forever and a day.
If my intentions are misunderstood,
please be kind, I’ve done all I should.
I won’t ask of you what I would not do.
Ohhh I saw the damage in you,
my fortunate one... the ending of you.
Why would they tell me to please… in my face…
When all of the reasons they don’t ask all over themselves that give way [not right at all]

It’s not a question of whether my heart is true.
Streamlined, I had to pull through.
Look for a new beginning, on you.
Ohhh I've got a message for you

Up and away is when I’ve got to do[?]
Give what you have, what you might lose.

What would you say if I told you that I’m to blame?
And what would you do if I had to deny your name?
Where would you go if I told you I loved you, and then walked away?
Ohhh yeah...who should I tell if not for the ones that you could not save?

I told you when I found you,
if they would doubt you, you should be careful and run away [?]
Now they surround you and all that amounts to is love that you [something] for fortune and fame.

    [awesome Robin Finck solo]

    If my affects are misunderstood,
and you decide I’m up to no good,
don’t ask me to enjoy them just for you. Ask yourself what I would do to bring you down, myself, to live with fortune and shame.
Ohhh ya.
You should have turned to the hearts of the ones, but you would not stay [?]
I told you when I found you,
all that amounts to is love that you [something] for fortune and fame.

    [More sick Finckery]

Song 2 isn't This I Love. Somebody who plays on This I Love confirmed that Song 2 is something else. I don't think Song 2 or Rhiad and The Bedhouins will be on Chinese Democracy. If The World will be on Chinese Democracy though. That song is utter perfection.

Looks like Mr. Firecloud got some FBI activity!

Last week, the Internet was rocked when California blogger Kevin Skwerl
posted nine newly leaked Chinese Democracy tracks, including three
previously unheard songs allegedly from Guns n' Roses long-awaited album.
Skwerl - who used to work in the distribution department of Universal Music
and is now a Web designer - runs the blog Antiquiet, and says he received
the tracks from "an anonymous online source."

Yesterday Skwerl was surprised to find himself face to face with two FBI
agents who paid a visit to his day job. "It was kind of an ambush," Skwerl
tells Rolling Stone. "When I came back from lunch they were waiting in the
lobby for me. It's a little creepy they know where I work." Two young FBI
officers, who Skwerl describes as "Mulder and Scully types," questioned him
for 15 minutes about where he got the tracks and made plans to visit his
house at 7:00 a.m. this morning.

"I wasn't sure if they were going to come by with a warrant and trash the
place, like in the movies," he says. "It was nothing like that." The FBI
officials wanted to see the original files, but Skwerl erased them last week
per instructions from Axl Rose's attorneys. Skwerl ultimately gave them
second-hand files that are now widely available on the Internet.

Last week Skwerl's blog crashed from the traffic flood that resulted from
his controversial posting. "My host contacts me and says, 'What the fuck did
you do?'" I go, "Uhhhh. I posted some music." He goes, "What exactly did you
post?" I go, "Uhhhh. [Meek voice] New Guns n' Roses." He goes,
"Motherfucker." Before long his cell phone rang with an unfamiliar 323
number. "It was a really cool guy from the Gn'R camp that was a middle man
between someone who was very angry and me. He was trying to reach out and see if I'd go without a fight, which is more or less what I did."

Skwerl agreed to take them down, but a cease-and-desist letter soon followedthreatening possible legal action. "I'm not so worried about that," Skwerl says. "It's a legal grey area since it wasn't for download, it wasn't a
finished product. We aren't sure who owns the recordings. I feel like I
    might survive this."
