Do I get bonus points for knowing this? :)

Wait, where's the connection? Do you support Mark bc he's collaborating with an artist originally from Cincy (even if he's been in New Orleans for a loooong time)? I'm so confused.........

    PS - I'm totally kidding.

PSS - Does this mean you totally support Shawn Smith also? He's been a Whigs/Dulli collaborator forever. That would make me happy.

    Isn't Florida "the Garden State"?

Fair enough! Although don't forget, this is after already being pushed back a month, so it feels more solid than any initial release date. But yeah, it ain't out until it's out, lol.

Right you are; however, I just saw that Adorata is NOW available via iTunes in the UK. So it seems that Sep 2nd is for real! I'm in the US so I won't be able to hear anything till tomorrow. I can't wait!

You guys just made my night!!!!
  • Now available on iTunes in the USA!!!!!!!!!!!!

EDIT: Now that I've had a chance to listen to it twice...wow. This record is awesome. And I'm most pleased to say that Greg tears the shit out of Down the Line in the studio just as well as he does on stage! Really, truly, just a half-hour of great music.

Awesome!! I don't have it yet, probably won't until this evening when I get off work. Glad to hear it's sounding great though....not that I expected anything less from these guys. Any other details anyone can provide would be great! Especially since I'll have to wait all day to hear it!

I'm with you on the waiting. Won't get to hear it till tonight but I super stoked. As far as I'm concerned, these two can do no wrong in my book.

Here's what some of the people are saying on the SFR board:

"Flow Like a River" is outta control"

"listening to Adorata on my Headphones. I have a feeling this is going to be a beautifull day"

"Wow, I'm pleasantly surprised by how much the studio version of "Down the Line" captures the same sense of urgency and drama that the song has when they play it live. And this is the first time I've ever heard "Flow Like A River," Gutter Twins style or otherwise. If they play this one at the Warsaw, there will be dancing... there has to be. Quite a groove on this track. Love the vocal work on it too, different from what I'm used to hearing from the GT. And while I don't dig the studio version of "St. James Infirmary" as much as the killer version from the Avalon, it's still pretty fucking righteous... ! Don't really have the words for "We Have Met Before." Amazing track. Chills."

re: Down the Line...... "it's superb - the strings on it help it along too"

Personally, I've grown a bit tired of Belles (I think it bores me a little), but the rest of this record is really working for me. You guys will love it!

  • Thank you much, Shawn Smith. Belles is very moody, I think you have to be in the right mood to hear it. Personally I love it, especially Mark's vocals. Deep Hit of Morning Sun and Spanish Doors are both kick ass. I can't wait to hear the whole thing later. Most of Lanegan's stuff seems to take me a couple listens to fully appreciate. Thank goodness these two guys are still making music. Very, very underrated musicians.

Haha! To be fair, you're prob the 1st person to say on this board. Just bc it's been done on the Lanegan and SFR/Gutter Twins boards doesn't mean it's not original here! See that? You are original!

I thought it was funny too! Nothing wrong with a little humor round here. If you want a good laugh, go read the Chris Cornell - Long Gone thread (now locked). When I first introduced my sis to Lanegan's work, she thought he looked like Will Farrell too (looking at the GT myspace page)......until she heard him sing, then she completely changed her tune :)
  • Lanegan does not look like Will Ferrel!! You people need glasses!
“Life is life everywhere. Life is in ourselves and not outside us. There will be men beside me, and the important thing is to be a man among men and to remain a man always, whatever the misfortunes, not to despair and not to fall - that is the aim of life, that is its purpose.”
    Fyodor Dostoyevsky
  • For the record, I never said he did! I really like the pic of him smoking in the Gutter Twins - Saturnalia booklet.....
  • Lanegan does not look like Will Ferrel!! You people need glasses!
    Yeah, that's Chad Smith's gig! :p

As far Adorata... wow. It's strange, but I think it's a far brighter bunch of songs than Saturnalia. Not that being brighter than Saturnalia is hard, but still, it's refreshing, even if it is just cos they're mostly cover songs. Duchess is standing out as my early favourite - Lanegan's vocals remind me of Stay off Scraps at Midnight, which I love. :)
Smokey Robinson constantly looks like he's trying to act natural after being accused of farting.

    ok, cool.

    but they are good.

hey check out Chiodos. Or do you know them already?

That's exactly how I feel, I'm really in love with Duchess. The vocals are definitely reminiscient of Scraps - much like Wheels, that positive kind of vibe. The album may be a tad brighter; however, the two original songs (Spanish Doors and We Have Met Before) are still a tad dark - especially the lyrics to We Have Met Before. The whole EP is solid and I love it already...usually it takes a few days for Lanegan songs to sink in

So now that I have had a chance to listen a couple of times.....I love it. Amazing EP. Flow Like a River is a great tribute to Natasha Shneider. Duchess and We Have Met Before are probably my two favorites. My biggest complaint about Adorata, it's too short. The album left me wanting a whole lot more!
