ZEITGEIST has arrived...

...got it at my station earlier this week.

Not bad - but a lot of harmonics is the only thing saving Billy's voice.

It sounds like DOOMSDAY CLOCK will be the 2nd single, at least that's what we're spinning and is the first song that jumped at me for a radio hit.

Still think Zwan is the best thing Billy has done in the last 7 years.

I am not sending it to anyone.

But get familiar with bit torrent, google "iso hunt," then search for zeitgeist.

    Enjoy!

I'm listening to it for the first time as we speak. Good stuff. Heavier than I thought, which is good.

I would totally disagree! I was worried about his voice and how it would come across, but after listening to a dozen or so of the shows from the current tour, his voice sounds as good, if not better than ever... It's still distinctive, but it's definately not shot!

    Oh, and I love Zeitgeist!

better than ever for sure. He didn't miss a single note in a three hour set in Asheville the other night. He's NEVER been able to do that before.

God...I just cannot get into this album. It just doesn't strike me as a Pumpkins record. I feel like it should just be a Billy solo work. Some songs are very Zwan-y feeling, but that's fine, I loved Zwan. The production seems a bit lackluster to me. Still may need time to grow, but so far not very impressed by any means. 7 Shaded of Black/United States are the best songs on it.

I love this album. It hearkens back to somewhere between Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie for me. Similar vibe to songs like Rocket, Bullet With Butterfly Wings, and Zero. The songs are all focused and the band sounds tight as hell.

It's obviously not going to be for everyone. People who like the Pumpkins for stuff like Tonight Tonight, Thirty-Three, 1979, Disarm, To Sheila, etc will not like this album. But I think anyone who enjoys the full spectrum of the Pumpkins will be able to get into this album.

I like the Pumpkins in I Am One, Siva, Bury Me, Cherub Rock, and Mayonnaise mode. Does any of the stuff on the album sound like that?

I was trying to figure out how I would describe Zeitgeist as it relates to previous eras of the band. Each song sounds like it could've been from a certain point in the band's history.

    Doomsday Clock - Siamese
7 Shades of Black - Mellon Collie
    Bleeding the Orchid - Gish/Machina
That's The Way - Mellon Collie
    Tarantula - Siamese
    Starz - Machina
    United States - Mellon Collie
    Neverlost - Gish/Adore
    Bring the Light - Siamese/Machina
(Come On) Let's Go - Mellon Collie
For God & Country - Adore
    Pomp & Circumstance - Machina

    That's my opinion, at least.

I second that. I drove 19 hours this weekend to see them for the Friday and Saturday shows! The new songs are great.

That song is fucking brilliant. The last minute of that song blows my face off, too...Every bit as fierce as "Tales Of A Scorched Earth".

I think that's pretty much spot on. The album definitely leans more towards Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie than Adore and Machina.

I drove 7 hours to see the 6/30 Saturday show. I was really impressed, better than I thought. They did have some sound problems, but the band overall was really, really good.

Now they are playing an hour from me on Tuesday, and I got to try to go to that.
