Did they release it in another format or did you rip it? I thought it was strictly vinyl.

The DMB forums are full of people happy that it was released digitally, but pissed that it's $40. Then the other are those that have the vinyl that are being asked to pay an extra $40 when they already spent $200 when it was advertised as vinyl only.

I am in the latter group, but I have a vinyl rip, so I'm good. Unless someone wants to share the "official" digital, which is not stealing since I own the vinyl. :)
  • Tour dates up! New album.

Excited for the new album! Bummed there’s no Alpine Valley this year again though. Worried about that place.

  • Yeah Zac Brown Band was the most recent announcement I heard. There’s enough places for these country acts to play. But since the new ownership took over, there has been a shift. And both Phish and DMB have toured in the past several years without stopping in East Troy. And don’t even mention PJ.

PJ doesn't need to tour. They just need to keep repackaging their old material and sell it to people who want to hoard it.

  • Kind of.

In my opinion... he has been half-assing it in recent years. He just doesn't look super enthused most of the time.

Don't get me wrong... I like him a lot and he's been a great member of the band, but I'm not the only one who's noticed his general malaise.

In addition to playing terribly and being an overall weirdo.

  • Has anybody heard if he was in the studio at all recording the new album?

So no violin heavy songs or will that be filled in by Tim like he fills in for Butch?

Last night Tim & the horns filled in for Boyd’s violin parts, it was different for sure. Robert Randolph sat in for a few as well. Who knows what they will do for the upcoming tour.

Eek.  Wow, this is a real surprise.  I have Warehouse tickets for three shows this tour and this sort of changes my mindset.  So you say different.. but was it better, worse, tolerable?  There are a few songs like Dancing Nancies that I can't imagine without him.  I'd love if Butch came back for the tour.

BTW - pretty good set list last night.  He didn't do something silly like stringing together Samurai->Stolen Away -> You&Me, where shit gets quiet for 25 minutes in a row.
