Baboon is a good Texas band, as are Slobberbone and Rev Horton Heat which I think are both Toadies acquaintances as well. but I am still disappointed that Lisa is not the bassist. is it because she is not interested in doing it anymore or because VADEN doesn't want her back in the band?

    Taken form: http://www.ozlounge.com/showthread.php?t=8255

Here is a quote directly from a Baboon board member and Mark Rez Rezniceck's response:
    Board Member:
"Well then it must be Todd that keeping it from happening cuz I know Lisa has been open to it for a while now"..

"Rez, How you do feel about it? Do you care either way or do you just try and stay out of it"?
Rez Response: " I'd love to play with her again, of course! Lisa rocks. The thing is, though, that she quit the band back in 2001. As much as we might wish for it (and I do), employers don't usually hire back people who've resigned. So, I try not to get involved with that argument. Love 'em both like a brother and sister".

I have met Vaden many many times and that is the one question that I will always personally wonder myself but refuse to ask him just because I don't feel like it's my place to inquire about the situation. Vaden has always been cool to me, and he is one of the most down to earth and nicest musicians I have been fortunate to meet. Even though Lisa will not be playing with the band, Mark Hughes does an excellent job. The shows will be awesome.

the temporary breakup in 2001 was probably the best thing that could've happened at the time, in a way. They had been royally screwed by their record label and were going to be dropped soon enough anyway. and from what I understood, Lisa was just sick of playing in front of half-empty venues in an effort to try to re-gain what they once had been. so she quit. and this was helpful insofar as it allowed Todd to branch out and see what being in another band was like. and it's given them chance to make this comeback, anew.

if they go on with a new bassist because Lisa wants no part of it, I would absolutely support it. but if they go on and leave Lisa out because she quit at one time, with her wanting back in, then I think I would not support it. she is just as much a founding member as Todd.

I think that's the problem. Todd and Lisa are the founding members of the Toadies and the driving force behind it. The Toadies had so many members before they hit the major label circuit. There were actually two girls in the band at one point and the band was a five piece. Anyway, I think because Todd and Lisa were the driving force for the band and the founding members, I think it just really hurt Todd that she bailed or it could be something completely un- band related. I don't really know, but it's an argument I want to steer clear of personally.
I love the Burden Brothers too, I think they are great. It's kind of sad that the fact that the Toadies fame totally took away from the BB success. Reading reviews for those albums made me so mad, because the critics didn't give the recordings a fair chance, most reviews said. " this should be a Toadies record, make one like it blah blah blah" But the BB put out two of the most fantastic albums and I highly recommend both those albums. I always felt so bad for Todd in the beginning at Burden Brothers shows, because people wanted Toadies covers day in and day out. He did start to play them eventually, but the success of the Toadies and people wanting that, is what I think made the Burden Brothers go on hiatus, and partly why Zack and Rizzo left the BB. The Burden Brothers are a great band and if you are a fan of VTL I highly recommend them, though the don't sound like the Toadies, and some people just want that.
