Ok, like many people I will only believe this when i hold it in my hands while I'm actually standing in a record store. I do know that when i'll listen to it that I'll be disappointed big-time but the record has no chance anymore of winning me over anyway. I've been through so many musical phases in those last 15 years since the end of the 2 Use Your Illusion records that I don't see how I could get all crazy about a Gunners album!? Maybe if it's better than Appetite ... but c'mon no one with a right set of mind can think that!! That probably leaves Axl out of the equation.

am hearing that these are rumors...though i am not a fan but i have been seeing threads about this and it gets tiring to see people getting disappointed...

an e-mail from Del James. I'm guessing you know who Del is if you are a hardcore gunner. I'm so pumped for this album. It's not exactly going to sound like old GNR but I have no doubt that it'll be the best album of the decade. If The World is my song of the year right now. Honestly, I've never been so excited about an album in my whole life. Axl is my favorite singer of all time though.

I think "album of the decade" is a little strong. This is going to make UYI look underproduced... I mean, the demos are overproduced, the thing that made GNR was the rawness. The Chinese Democracy songs are so sanitized it's ridiculous.

I'm listening to "If the World" now, it's a clusterfuck. Way too much going on. All it needs is some background audio.

Piano, synth bass, flamenco, lead, electric drums... way too much going on. At least there's only one vocal layer here. Some of the songs have like 14 Axl's singing at once.

I do like some of the songs, but there's just been more and more added to them from their original forms to what they are now, I guess that's what happens when a song exists for 6-7 years and you keep playing with it, oh well.

Don't worry about the production on this album. I can tell from the Best Buy leaks that they got it right. If The World and Chinese Democracy have a harder edge than they did on all the previous leaks and TWAT sounds amazing. The quality of the Best Buy leaks were shit but I've got good haedphones and I was able to pick out the differences easy enough.

just so you know thats when they plan to ANNOUNCE the day the album comes out, not when the album comes out. . .and now the latest im hearing is the album will be released in 2010 and is being renamed space odyssey

Well I'm pretty sure if I take 5 minutes I can come up with at least 10 albums that will surely be better than 'Chinese Democracy'. For now I just leave you with one example: Queens of the Stone Age - Songs for the Deaf

I'm pretty sure there are a hundred bands on this planet that are able to make a better record if you give them 15 years and more than 10 million $ to make it.

music subjectiveness aside, i for one hope this goes well for axl. i know it's easy to crack the obvious jokes, but he has obviously been suffering for his art over the past 15 years, give the guy a break already! he isn't going to force you to buy it, or even listen to it for that matter. sheesh :rolleyes:

This will be interesting to hear... I think I'll be able to listen to it pretty objectively. I like GNR a lot, but not enough to automatically think Chinese Democracy will be great. And I don't automatically think it will suck either, so I think I'm at a good place to listen to it objectively.

give the guy a break already? how many breaks does he get? . . .and i disagree, the reason its taking so long for the album to come out is he is investigating whether he can actually make it a law that you HAVE to buy chineese democracy

speaking as someone who is also pedantic & anal over any creative work (not that i've ever worked on something for 15 years, but still); it is his project, he can do whatever the hell he wants, he doesn't owe it to anyone but himself.

well, except maybe the record company after the millions of dollars they've invested in it...

i just feel for the guy, i can't imagine the weight on his shoulders right now. jeez, he is just making music.

Actually, I think I read this somewhere on the government's proposed bailout plan. One of the politicians was trying to sneak in a clause that said everyone must purchase this album at an inflated price at a specific retailer.

wouldnt you say at this point there is no way that the album can live up to 15 years of hype. . .i mean is there any chance anyone will like it. . .i dont think anyone really cares if it ever comes out, anyone who wants to hear the songs can find them on the internet. . .i personally don't care enough, its just annoying that it seems to come up every couple of months. . .the thing was done years ago, axl is an asshole for doing this to whatever fans he has left. . .its pathetic

the fact that it has been 15 years & people are still talking about it, yeah, i think some people still care

the reason it has been 'hyped' for so long is because the last incarnation of the band wrote 3 great records that made them the biggest band on the planet & people are hoping that axl can do it again, this time by himself. no pressure. the record won't please everyone, there is no doubt about that, but to say that no one will like it is a little exaggerated, don't you think?

I listened to the leaked copy of the 11 songs and I wasn't blown away.

This album will do millions in sales, but not as good as the classic tunes.
I did like the title song (chinese democracy) along with shacklers revenge (which I think is the guitar hero song)

Worth a listen though..

people still talk about it because its a running joke, nothing more. . .and unless you are going to put blinders on and make pretend axl isn't the biggest douche in the world for what he's done with this album i don't see why anyone would care. . .and i used to like them, i would never even give this album a chance, never give axl the satisfaction of thinking that we care so much about it. . .i suggest you do the same

The Album won't get released & Nobody's getting any Dr.Pepper for free!! It's been 6 years now that it should be released and every year (every couple of months) there are some lame excuses!! For almost a year now "it's just down to the mastering of the album" for it to be released. Axl is a loony who realises no matter how often he changes or remixes the recordings they don't even match his lousy expectations and that's why they'll never be released officially.
