i agree. the first album is solid with the exception of the closing track. sam's town is half good and half really bad.

I don't mind them at all. I had people I know go and see them last time in Aus, and they said they were explosive.

But I do fail to see how this is pj related......

  • I love them. All 3 of their albums are fantastic and they sound amazing live. If you guys want a Pearl Jam connection....the Killers played Borgata the night before Pearl Jam played a few years ago. I ran into Mike in the casino after the Killers show and he said he really enjoyed it.
  • uh how is this PJ related?

not a fan, but dont hate em either.

    Not PJ related AT ALL.

But, I love The Killers. They're fucking amazing live and anyone who doubts their talents needs to see them live. And anyone who doesn't think Brandon Flowers has a fucking amazing voice needs to listen to their cover of Romeo & Juliet.
  • Very huge fan. I actually got turned on to The Killers by Mike & Mike in the Morning on ESPN. Mike Greenberg wouldn't shut up about them since meeting them on Letterman. I listened to Sam's Town start to finish and I was hooked.

they are one of the worst bands i've ever had to bear hearing. It just goes to show how shitty this era of music is, when people think the Killers are a good band. By the way, what does that shitty band have to do with Pearl Jam?

    Oh I see.

Well in that case, I change my mind...the Killers are amazing....

....amazing at being a horrible band.

really enjoy 'hot fuss', 'sam's town' is alright.

am hooked on that cover they do called 'shadowplay'. can't get enough of it.
  • I'm not usually a fan of this "Vegas" music as I tend to call it, but something about this particular band just clicks for me. I looove their music, saw them live in May, and I have to say that they absolutely blew me away. Not a long show, but with only 2 albums, they played for over an hour and a half, which was most of their songs and a few choice covers. I fell in love with Brandon Flowers' voice allllll over again with their cover of the Dire Straits song "Romeo and Juliet", which I'm sure most of you already know in its original form. A classic song made even more beautiful in my eyes. These guys may not sound like the next earth-shattering rock geniuses Flowers sometimes says they are, but they are really a solid little group with a lot going for them. Brilliant!

  • I think the Killers are a great band. I saw them 3 times on their last tour and they were amazing all 3 times. Their shows at the Borgata were insanely good. Their Murder Trilogy is up there with the Mamasan Trilogy.

I had a very close friend that was a huge KILLERS fan. I worked with him and he was the only one that understood my pure passion for music. He traveled quite a few states to see the KILLERS, just like I've traveled far and wide to see Pearl Jam. He even ended up crashing in their hotel with them, bowling with them and having all kinds of fun. Sometimes on Monday Morning's we'd come to work and I'd talk all Pearl Jam and then He'd fill me in about the KILLERS. To be fair to him I gave the Killers a chance and I really really like them. His name was Steve and He passed away suddenly and tragically last year. I miss him soooo much and every time I hear the new remake of the song SHADOWPLAY that the Killers did, I think of him. I know he would have loved it. Miss you Steve...........

  • Absolutely LOVE The Killers now. Just recently began to listen to them (June/July) and I can't imagine running long-distance w/o them on my iPod. I started with Sam's Town which I think is their best followed by Sawdust and then Hot Fuss. All are good, but I like the sound of Sam's Town/Sawdust a bit more.

Can't WAIT to see them live

    You know it.
  • this is pj related because mark, their bass player, is in the ten club, and some pj guys, the killers, and u2 all hung out at a u2 after party in seattle a few years back....

  • I really cannot stand them. I find their music to be nearly unlistenable.

    this is actually interesting.

while i'm a big fan of hot fuss and can't get enough of shadowplay, from what i've heard about the killers is they're very egotistical and hangin' on the republican side....
...so if they actually have a member in the 10club...that's kinda cool.

I love them. So many new bands today have such a small, boring sound. The Killers are epic, and I personally loved Sams Town and the homages to Bruce Springsteen and the like.
  • I think they're okay. They were really dissapointing live though, kinda dull :(

I still think the most entertaining thing to ever be associated with The Killers is the Justin Timberlake/All These Things That I've Done sequence in Southland Tales.

They were in the audience when PJ played Wembley Arena last Summer.

bought Sams Town first when I heard, "when we were young", and loved the CD, then I got Hot Fuss and loved it even more, I know they are a big MTV band, but its good to see band like them get exposure, they are a good band.

  • The Bassist of the Killers is a huge PJ fan. Mark I think his name is. I think the Killers like PJ, maybe that is the connection.

Anyway, I love the Killers. Seen them twice, the first time in 05' when I was not that big of fan. That changed when I saw the show. Bought Hot Fuss (classic, btw) and thought it was near flawless. Sam's Town tried to imitate 'Funeral' by the Arcade Fire a bit too much with it's attemtps at theatrics. But still it is fun to listen to even though you know it has it's limitations and is not their best work. Kinda like 'Trompe Le Monde' by the Pixies and 'No Code' by PJ. They have that certain quality you can't quite pinpoint that makes them legit. Some bands have it, some don't. The Killers have it.

Wow, I'm suprised so many jammers like the Killers. Not offence, and it's all a matter of personal taste, but they're probably my most disliked band right now. I had to sit through them at V fest last year just to see the pumpkins up close and I wish I brought ear plugs. I was so annoyed!
