there are a ton of bands that i've done this to. usually it involves a hit single that annoys me or something along those lines. however, i am more then willing to admit my mistake and sing the praises of said band afterwards.
i will openly admit i wrote phantom planet off after california was on the radio. but i must say their self titled album is fucking outstanding from begining to end. i would highly suggest it.
great songs:
big brat

feel free to add a band you have done this to and give some songs.

I used to completely hate them, but now, their just another band making music to me...I could live without 'em, but I wouldn't say they're bad by any means...

But now I love them!
Oh, and drive-by truckers too.
But then I actually heard some of their stuff and they aren't that bad..
Goddamn Lonely Love got me hooked, and I've heard a couple other songs too, but the guy in the record store here hadn't even heard of them, so I have to wait until I head for the great, big city of Oslo next month to pick up one of their albums. But I definitly need some stuff of theirs.

Franz Ferdinand - always liked them but didn't think they were capable of much, thier second album made me change my mind on them
If you've lost your faith in love and music the end won't be long
my chemical romance - one of my favorite bands now
styx - they are awesome and even better live

I just hated the whole "garage rock saves music" thing...not to mention their image annoyed the shit outta me...but after hearing 'Last Nite' & 'Someday' a few times on the radio, there was no denying they're music was damn catchy.
Fuck that, listen to classics like Ddevil or Revenga. Awesome.
I may be boring but at least I'm not Jack fucking Johnson.

Pixies - I liked "Where is My Mind?" when I heard it on Fight Club, I got some of their other songs and didn't like them. Finally got into them a couple of years later and love them now.
The Flaming Lips - I just never got the big deal about them. Only within the last month have I actually started liking them. "The Soft Bulletin" is a great album
Wilco - I didn't like YHF as much as the hype it was getting. I finally got it last year and I thought it was good, but not great. Got their live set a few months back and I really love it.
Franz Ferdinand/The Postal Service/Bloc Party - Bands I ignored just because of the crazy hype they had. But once I actually listened to their stuff, they are all decent bands. Not my favorites by any means, but good stuff. Arctic Monkeys will probably fall into this category in a few months.

I liked them better when they were Treble Charger.

I guess that's fine, lol. I'm quite the opposite with Linkin Park actually. I used to like them before I had a taste in music, now I can't stand them or their music. Discovering Pearl Jam has opened my eyes to really good music.
