My understanding of the law is that the aggrieved party (or claimant) would have to suffer damages of some kind to hold the 10c or the band "legally liable" - what damages would anyone have suffered if they announced the band was touring with Ed OR if they "decided to come along"? Bonaroo didn't have to compete with PJ tour sales during the contractual window and ? Fans who "would have gone if they had known, didn't get tickets"...not sure you've got much of a cause of action there.
Just seems to me that if Bonaroo has the band sign a contract that they cant announce any of their own tours within a 6 week window (which the leading theory here seems to be) and they proceed to announce an EV solo tour, wait out the 6 week window and then change it to be a PJ tour, that would not be in keeping with said contract.
Well, do you need a lot of what you've got to survive?

Ok...I guess we have to see the contract - my earlier point was simply, if PJ didn't compete with Bonaroo during the window, how did the festival suffer any material damages?

I wonder if Wilco fans complain when Tweedy goes solo. I know I didn't. I was so excited to be able to see him alone. I am excited about Ed going out on his own and playing what will be amazing shows.
Pearl Jam is not playing and that is okay. They will be here soon.
I think it is safe to say we are a few hours away from the announcement, and I am pretty sure no tickets are going to be on sale today or tomorrow anyway.
...got a mind full of questions and a teacher in my soul...

Yeah, I see your point. But aside from the legal mumbo-jambo (which we cant really comment on without knowing any of the contracts) I think it would be kinda shady anyway - towards fans as well - o announce a solo tour and then change it to a PJ tour. They just wouldnt do that.

I don't think any of us were complaining about Ed going solo. The issue was if they had only announced that way because of contractual obligations.

Don't get me wrong...I don't see it happening - just trying to keep lawsuits in perspective. What the hell do I know anyway, I am Canadian.

thats what im sayin man, people need to get over this legal crap.
Not true. i remember when the canadian tour was announced back in 2005, I woke up one morning to find the news on the 10c web site at about 7 am est.
yep, I was in the library pulling an all nighter before finals week when the announcement was made late into the night, and if I'm not mistaken they went right on sale immediately...most money I have ever spent in the library for sure...
That's a stretch. These shows were sold, not only throught the 10C but through Ticketmaster as Eddie Vedder shows - not Pearl Jam shows. There is no way they could just all of the sudden say that these shows are now full band Pearl Jam shows.
You probably have a point there, as it would be misrepresentation, but nothing stops PJ from opening for Ed!
Yep. Immediately. I remember dropping a load of cash right then on tickets ... I was so shocked to see shows in Kitchener and London. Hopefully we will get some similar good shock this afternoon.

Doubt they'd have a poster sale and release tickets around the same time today. Maybe an tour announcement, but probably no ticket sales, at least for today.
Wrong. Austin City Limits Music Festival. That's what they've been rumored to perform at.
Am I the only Pearl Jam fan in the Austin area who would be disappointed if the ACL fest thing is the announcement? i would travel to Dallas, Houston and even other states to see PJ, but the idea of standing in a field in 100+ degree heat for hours standing next to people who haven't showered in 3 days doesn't sound great.

here's hoping for some buffalo/toronto news today
let's go sabres
***GOT EM***
A new album would be the best news for me (or a Canadian Tour for the fall).
Winnipeg 2005
Nijmegen 2007
Me neither, that was my point to begin with. Aside from the legal stuff, why would they wanna announce a solo tour if they wanna make it a PJ tour?

and Ottawa... god Ottawa was a GREAT show!

The waiting is driving me mad........its not here and I'm a mess....

I agree if it is a tour announcement
