i saw this tragedy monday night and i was embarrassed for sammy and mike. i think "why can't this be love" was the worst thing of the entire show. paul schaffer's keyboard sounded awful. that intro sounded nothing like the song. if he was going to play something, couldn't he have done something simple like "dreams" or "right now"?

i can give slash a break because he was playing with a les paul with a fat neck and hot humbuckers, so there is no way he could have gotten near the brown tone that evh had. it was way too gainy. everyone makes mistakes, hell i screw up all the time at my band's gigs, but that is attributed to copious amounts of alcohol and not so much bad or sloppy playing. its not like he tried to fuck it up. i didn't know that the second "song" they played was runaround. i was like "what is this crap?".

they should have waited and inducted them next year. if i were eddie i would have checked out of rehab, flew to the hall of fame, and apologized to the fans for that BS that was passed off as van halen. their induction was the worst part of the entire show. definitely a black eye for the hall of fame.

it's not vr's vault that ed and alex suck and don't belong in the hall.
  • so there is no way he could have gotten near the brown tone that evh had.

Doesn't the brown tone make everyone who hears it crap their pants? The Southpark kids devoted an episode to discovering it. I think Slash found the brown tone because I did crap my pants it was so bad.

it sucked bad. Slash blew it big time. If this was guitar here he would have been in the red.

Agree with every single comment here. I really wish they would have waited. This "performance" was downright painful. What the fuck Scott?? The entire thing hurts like hell but when he hits the "before before before" part???? EW! What was that?? Seriously tragic. :(

Maybe you guys have seen him more than me - I only saw STP once, when they opened for the RHCP, but he was like that then - to me he kind of moves like a cat - this didn't look TOO different, but again, I've only see him live once.

VR's performance was awful. Here's a clip of Slash at his best. I'd forgotten just how killer Slash was back in the day.

Less dissapointing than GN'R has been for the last ten years IMO. I saw VR live and it was a decent rock and roll show.

yeah, I saw them a couple of years ago and was very entertained. Scott Wieland is a great frontman. The songs are pretty mediocre, but performance-wise, fantastic.
