How is Fuel even still around? Those guys sucked anyways back in the day."FF, I've heard the droning about the Sawx being the baby dolls. Yeah, I get it, you guys invented baseball and suffered forever. I get it." -JearlPam09250

Actually they had a handfull of decent songs between their first few albums. By far the best band to come out of the nu-grunge scene (I know that's not a huge accolade!)
Bittersweet is a cool song, some decent guitar in it.

they also have a really cool song called Easy from their second album, it's got some AIC-eque harmonies, you can listen to it here:

I like many of the songs from that second cd but never could stand "bad day." Slow is a good song. Brett is posting again on fuelies.net. He left when Toryn Green became the front man but now he is back in disguise now that he is in Re-fueled and Toryn is in another band....Brett posted in the fall that he (Brett) is in 3 bands.9/98, 9/00 - DC, 4/03 - Pitt., 7/03 - Bristow, 10/04 - Reading, 10/05 - Philly, 5/06 - DC, 6/06 - Pitt., 6/08 - Va Beach, 6/08 - DC, 5/10 - Bristow, 10/13 B'more

this was an old thread from 2006 that I called back up. The x's are no longer a band. He moved to California when he was in Riders on the Storm now called Krieger and Manzarek. I don't know if he still sings Ian's part. Sorry I forgot Ian's name! I only know that he's in a band singing Fuel songs called Re-fueled. I don't know the name of the other ones. I do know that he has sometimes sang in "Camp Freddy." Re-fueled came around the Baltimore area in the fall and I did not know about it.9/98, 9/00 - DC, 4/03 - Pitt., 7/03 - Bristow, 10/04 - Reading, 10/05 - Philly, 5/06 - DC, 6/06 - Pitt., 6/08 - Va Beach, 6/08 - DC, 5/10 - Bristow, 10/13 B'more

saw "Riders on the Storm" with Brett singing last year in Foxboro, Ma.
I got to admit I was pretty skeptical going in but after a couple of songs, he really dug into the "Morrison voice"..
in songs you wouldn't expect like "Peace Frog" "the Alabama Song" "Waiting for the Sun" and "When the Music's Over"...
Thumbs up for sure.. and he didn;t try to dress or look like Morrison which I respected alot.Post edited by locked on"This here's a REQUEST!"

really? after I saw several videos on youtube of him singing Doors' songs, I was glad I did not drive 4 hours to see ROTS when they were in Norfolk, VA during their tour. Some described as sounding like a lounge singer on some songs to a robot, and I agreed. I liked him singing Crystal Ship. I prefer him in Fuel or covering Daniel by Elton John.9/98, 9/00 - DC, 4/03 - Pitt., 7/03 - Bristow, 10/04 - Reading, 10/05 - Philly, 5/06 - DC, 6/06 - Pitt., 6/08 - Va Beach, 6/08 - DC, 5/10 - Bristow, 10/13 B'more

I think i have a decent knowledge of this subject...
Re-Fueled was a group Brett formed with Jeff A (bass in Fuel) over the summer. In interviews, Brett says the idea of Re-Fueled was actually Jeffs. The guitar player was Yogi (from Chris Cornells band). They did a handful of dates in the fall mostly east coast. I saw them in NYC in sept. They played on a boat cruise and I'd say there was 30 people there at best. It was ok. & I used to LOVE fuel. They mostly just played songs off sunburn + hemorrhage & bad day. They were suppsed to continue to tour in Dec but I think the response was too weak to continue.
Bretts 2nd band is yes... Rider on the Storm.
Bretts 3rd band is actually a new project. He spoke of this when he was doing Re-Fueled interviews. Its a group he formed with Sean Danielson of Smile Empty Soul. They were supposed be writing songs for various film projects but ended up liking what they were doing so much they kept the songs and made a record. The band is to be called ---World Fire Brigade and the release was supposed to be spring 2010 but since sept there has been not a single word about it.
Scallions is a great front man with a unique voice. My opionion was he was always at his best when he didnt try too hard. I've always thought he should go solo & release a solo record since the demise of fuel.PJ - 36

well than you missed out on being in the same room as Robby Krieger wailing away like he did back in 1969..
If you closed your eyes during the guitar solo for "when the music's over" you'd swear you were back in time..
YES..THAT GOOD!
The original members of the Doors are not going to be around forever and if you're a huge Doors fan, i'd suggest ROTS is a MUST BE THERE destination..."This here's a REQUEST!"

was listening to the local rock station in philly WMMR (Preston & Steve) and they said Fuel is playing the MMR BBQ with Scallions in the line-up. I was never a fan of theirs but the lineup is pretty good with AIC and STP co-headlining.

Saw Brett about a year and half ago at irving plaza, NYC at the cult show. We were wondering WTF he was doing at a cult show. Now I find out he replaced Ian asbury in rots. Not a fuel fan, just wanted to share the story.0

well, maybe someday I will get to see them since champagne breakfast said he is still with them.
I like the Doors' music alot.
thanks to the other poster about the STP concert info. I would love to go to a concert with that line up but I would have to wear ear plugs and ear muffs. Have to save what is left of my hearing and the ringing is really bad for a week after I hear live music, even with ear plugs.9/98, 9/00 - DC, 4/03 - Pitt., 7/03 - Bristow, 10/04 - Reading, 10/05 - Philly, 5/06 - DC, 6/06 - Pitt., 6/08 - Va Beach, 6/08 - DC, 5/10 - Bristow, 10/13 B'more

Oh I bet the Bon Jovi show would be fun, I've never been to one of their concerts. I would OD on chocolate at Hershey Park.
I hope Brett shaved off his moustache, kind of seventies looking. Maybe his wife likes it though!
