Brett Scallions left Fuel :(

Earlier this week, I got an email from Carl Bell (well, not me personally). He said Brett left fuel and they are looking for a new front man. I heard their drummer left too. No wonder they've been so quiet lately.

I like Brett's voice, I hope he can find a new band. I don't think he writes music though.

maybe scott stapp? . . .fuels 1st album was pretty good, after that they started getting too poppy. saw them live once when they first came out at a small club, they were pretty good. ironically they were opening for creed, who had also just came out

I heard that he was having some throat problems and maybe even had an operation. Also that he is now PLAYING BASS in another band...

By deductive reasoning, this would lead me to believe that he just might not be able to sing anymore...

I read on http://www.wikipedia.org that he joined The x's. This myspace says he plays bass and sings backup. He looks old in that pic.

some members out Fuel came out and said he was lip syncing concerts since he had his throat worked on and he lost his voice and that begun the demise of the band...

if you listen to the songs on the x's myspace, you can hear brett singing.

on "the x's" forum, somebody wanted to know if brett would be performing fuel's songs and he said "not now, concentrating on writing new songs." i think it's because carl wrote the songs and owns the rights...it's not like with gavin rossdale who can sing whatever bush songs he wants when he performs as institute.

i disagree totally...

fuel, to me, was a medicore band... except for the energy at the live show produced by brett. brett elevates them beyond a boring, generic rock band with his presence.

by the way, fuels 3rd album is horrible.

As much as I like Fuel, I'd hate to see Brett leave the band, he had an awesome voice!! I remember falling in love with them back in middle school!!! Ah, old memories die hard!!

i agree with whoever said that bald dude (craig? chris?) from American Idol should step in. He would be better off if he joined Fuel, because if he wins that Idol contest....that record company owns him.

i found out too late and missed them when they were in baltimore in the fall.

Actually they had a handfull of decent songs between their first few albums. By far the best band to come out of the nu-grunge scene (I know that's not a huge accolade!)

Bittersweet is a cool song, some decent guitar in it.

I like many of the songs from that second cd but never could stand "bad day." Slow is a good song. Brett is posting again on fuelies.net. He left when Toryn Green became the front man but now he is back in disguise now that he is in Re-fueled and Toryn is in another band....Brett posted in the fall that he (Brett) is in 3 bands.

this was an old thread from 2006 that I called back up. The x's are no longer a band. He moved to California when he was in Riders on the Storm now called Krieger and Manzarek. I don't know if he still sings Ian's part. Sorry I forgot Ian's name! I only know that he's in a band singing Fuel songs called Re-fueled. I don't know the name of the other ones. I do know that he has sometimes sang in "Camp Freddy." Re-fueled came around the Baltimore area in the fall and I did not know about it.

I got to admit I was pretty skeptical going in but after a couple of songs, he really dug into the "Morrison voice"..

in songs you wouldn't expect like "Peace Frog" "the Alabama Song" "Waiting for the Sun" and "When the Music's Over"...

Thumbs up for sure.. and he didn;t try to dress or look like Morrison which I respected alot.

really? after I saw several videos on youtube of him singing Doors' songs, I was glad I did not drive 4 hours to see ROTS when they were in Norfolk, VA during their tour. Some described as sounding like a lounge singer on some songs to a robot, and I agreed. I liked him singing Crystal Ship. I prefer him in Fuel or covering Daniel by Elton John.

I think i have a decent knowledge of this subject...

Re-Fueled was a group Brett formed with Jeff A (bass in Fuel) over the summer. In interviews, Brett says the idea of Re-Fueled was actually Jeffs. The guitar player was Yogi (from Chris Cornells band). They did a handful of dates in the fall mostly east coast. I saw them in NYC in sept. They played on a boat cruise and I'd say there was 30 people there at best. It was ok. & I used to LOVE fuel. They mostly just played songs off sunburn + hemorrhage & bad day. They were suppsed to continue to tour in Dec but I think the response was too weak to continue.

Bretts 2nd band is yes... Rider on the Storm.
Bretts 3rd band is actually a new project. He spoke of this when he was doing Re-Fueled interviews. Its a group he formed with Sean Danielson of Smile Empty Soul. They were supposed be writing songs for various film projects but ended up liking what they were doing so much they kept the songs and made a record. The band is to be called ---World Fire Brigade and the release was supposed to be spring 2010 but since sept there has been not a single word about it.

Scallions is a great front man with a unique voice. My opionion was he was always at his best when he didnt try too hard. I've always thought he should go solo & release a solo record since the demise of fuel.
