I liked 16stone and Razorblade back in the day. But they sound pretty generic to me now, esp 16stone. And I wasn't interested in Science of things when it came out, but I later got it for free and realized I like it better than the previous two. Good album, IMO..... didn't sound as contrived as the others. Whatever Bush did after that, I have no idea.
Agreed, Science of things was a good album, i got some nice memories attached to that, likewise Razorblade, which to me doesnt sound generic but can see how 16 Stone would.....
'The more I studied religions the more I am convinced that man never worshipped anything but himself.' - Sir Richard Francis Burton
Like so many other teenage girls during the mid-nineties I had more than one Gavin Rossdale poster on my wall. I haven't listened to my Bush CD's for years, but I don't think that were that bad.
they definately arent nickelback bad, just kinda generic.
Thing about Razorblade is that when it came out the guy who ran my gym loved it so much he would put it on at work. This album is nothing but dreary slow depressing songs and certainly NOT high energy music, and everyone including myself hated it. Someone finally had to say something...
i've always loved Bush/The Institute because i'm one of those people who loves Rossdale's stream of consciousness lyrics. they're not for everyone. actually my fav Bush albums are "The Science of Things" & "Golden State" which both commercially weren't as well received as previous stuff. i though The Institute album was brilliant.
back on topic. i received an email about 4 months ago about Gavin's new website being constructed so hopefully progress is being made with that & in the studio. i think their might be a rift still between Gavin & Nigel.
the one thing you have to give Gavin is he leaves it all on the stage. the man rocked so hard in The Science of Things tour in 1999 that they had to bring oxygen on stage for him. fuck yeah!!
one of my top 3 punch combo in rock in the last 10 years is "Warm Machine," "Jesus Online," & "The Chemicals between Us"
it's weird to think that they are actually British
they sound like such an American band

good point, i never thought about this until now, maybe i even thought they were USA. they dont sound british at all
what was with all the nirvana comparisons back then too?
yeah it is strange, I remember reading that the British press hated them because they sounded so American
remember when they were called Bush X in Canada, lol
I don't know, I guess song structure ? I'm sure the media was looking to annoint someone the next Nirvana

They sounded like Nirvana if Nirvana's influences were rock bands instead of punk bands.
I remember learning a few songs off of 16stone on guitar. So simple, that albums guitar sounded so simple to me too. Not knocking them, just saying the simplicity of the guitar parts stuck out to me,,,, on 16stone. Think I may have to jam Science... tomorrow at work. May even take Razorblade too.
interestingly, I've only seen Bush(the band) once and No Doubt was the opening act. Both were great! I recall No Doubt coming out to the Imperial March(Star Wars) and that Bush closed with an REM cover, This One Goes Out To The One I Love.
This was in good ol' El Paso...95 I think.
I saw them back then too. At the time I only knew the "Just a Girl" song from No Doubt & hated them...But Bush rocked, boy does that bring back memories. The REM cover was kickass.
& Whoa to that pic someone posted. I haven't seen him with an almost shaved head...what a beautiful man.
Not emo, nu post grunge band had reach the level of energy on stage gavin had/has. His lyrics can be weird but the sound of Warm Machine, Personal Halloway and Jesus online are something almost magical.

I'd like to see a concert of them again......
Letting the Cables Sleep...Thats the highlight of Science. IMO
must be scheduled for release the same day as "Chinese Democracy".
That's funny stuff; by the way, who cares? Gavin is a Cobain hack with minimal, if any, talent.

not sure what he's doing now. I saw him with Institute. Good show.
When I saw them after a few songs in I turned to my friend and asked (cuz I wasn't quite sure) if Gavin was dancing kinda gay, and my friend said yeah. But I guess when youre hitting Gwen you can dance however you want.
True story.
Wouldn't it be funny if the world ended in 2010, with lots of fire?

i've love bush 10 years ago. I went to see them in 1996 (If I remember correctly) and the show was very good.

I guess him and Gwen are moving back to London so he can begin promoting his new album.
July 2007 - New site coming soon..... 7 months later isnt soon!! lol
Ill give his album a listen though, i hope its sixteen stone/razorblade suitcase like and not the stuff that proceeded it.
